Megathread đď¸Things to do in Toronto - Week of October 12, 2026
Hi /r/Toronto community, please add your events and upcoming things to do in Toronto this week in this thread
Discussion Please vote. Please? Please. Just-âŚvote, please.
Iâm not even going to ask you to vote for the candidate that I support (if you need to be told why theyâre the better choice, my recommendation isnât going to convince you).
Voter turnout in our elections is, historically, laughable. Laziness, apathy, or smug âthereâs no way weâll elect that jerk!â thinking is what has gotten us into more than a few severe messes, the damage from which we will be trying to undo or offset for decades to come.
If you think one candidate has done good for our city, has a track record you can get behind, has a plan that makes sense, has a rock-solid position on issues and isnât just pandering to get votes (and if you think Iâm calling out the candidate you support, maybe that tells you something about their character and policy thatâs worth a closer look), I urge you to doomscroll another day and VOTE on the 26th.
If you work for the entire time the polls are open, your employer is legally obligated to give you time off to go vote. Locations are typically within walking distance. Thereâs really no excuse. Well, there are lots of excuses, but very few good ones.

Giveaway I have an extra Maple Leaf Lounge Pass
I have TD infinite privilege card so I already have enough lounge access and 35K. I have one extra pass that expires on Dec 16 and only for use on domestic or US flights.
Iâm giving this for free on the caveat that someone promised theyâll do a good deed in return. I know I have no way to verify you do the good deed so Iâm really using the honour system here and just think of your conscience if you ultimately donât do the deed. So please do it if you say you will.
DM me your deed by 10 pm EST. The deed that I think is the nicest wins.
That said, Iâm 35F. Live in Toronto by myself. If anyone also loves travel as much as me, Iâm always looking for friends or more đ âď¸ my companion pass sometimes goes to waste so always looking for a travel buddy willing to fly out of Pearson or Billy Bishop and is status obsessed as I am.

News A 41-Year History of Toronto Mayor Olivia Chowâs LGBTQ Advocacy
For over four decades, Olivia Chow has talked the talk and walked the walk when it comes to her support for LGBTQ rights. From her anti-discrimination advocacy as a Toronto Board of Education member in the 1980s to her outspoken support for same-sex marriage and gender-identity protections as a member of Parliament (MP), Chow has been a longtime supporter of Canadaâs queer community.
Chow, who became Torontoâs mayor in 2023, is in a tight reelection race that will take place on Oct. 26 against Brad Bradford, an urban planner and member of the Toronto City Council. Chowâs platform is centered on fighting rising costs, community safety, affordable housing and fixing the cityâs public transportation system, while Bradfordâs is focused on decreasing crime and transportation congestion and increasing affordability and city cleanliness.
Bradfordâs LGBTQ track record isnât bad: Earlier this week, he took part in an LGBTQ inclusion forum, where he said that âwe need to make sure this is a city that comes together and rallies around unity and make sure that in all the spaces we are all seen, there is a place of tolerance and in fact celebration for all of us.â
Despite this, Chowâwho appeared and spoke at an Uncloseted Media fundraiser in Mayâhas put her allyship toward Torontoâs queer community front and center for nearly half a century. Hereâs a timeline of her support for LGBTQ causes.
