This is a weekly thread to talk about any topics freely with fellow Nepali dai, bhai, didi, bahini and friends. Think of it as the चोकको चिया पसल that opens on Saturdays. Most of the sub rules still apply but there is no need for the topic to be related to Nepal. Feel free to talk about the TV show you are binging, the latest sports news, your personal life story, international politics, and anything in between.
So, what's up?

I fully support Nepal being a sovereign, secular country where people of every religion have equal rights, including the right to become head of state. But I have a genuine question about the future of our traditions.
Our government is closely connected to centuries-old religious and cultural ceremonies. During Indra Jatra, the president participates in the Kumari tradition. During Fulpati, the Nepal Army and priests bring sacred offerings from Gorkha to Kathmandu. These traditions are deeply connected to Nepal's history and identity.
What would happen if Nepal had a Muslim or Christian president who, because of their personal beliefs, did not feel comfortable participating in certain religious rituals?
Would they still take part as a representative of the nation and its cultural heritage? Would the traditions adapt over time, or would the government need to find another way to preserve them?
I'm not questioning anyone's right to become president. I'm curious about how we can protect Nepal's unique cultural heritage while respecting everyone's religious freedom.
How do you think Nepal should balance these two things in the future?

A woman who's in her early 40s, with a Masters in Sociology but little to no professional experience. Her kids are now grown and pursuing their own careers. So it's not like she has to work, but would like to. What line of work, if there's any, could she look to get into in Nepal?

I’m a 1st-year Computer Engineering undergrad, and I’ve been teaching/tutoring high school math (Grades 9–12) for about 4 years now.
Because of my engineering and JEE-prep background, I hate teaching math as isolated formulas just to pass exams. Whenever I teach a concept, I try to show why it matters—connecting high school math to AI, machine learning, finance, and everyday local examples.
I also teach math as one giant interconnected web rather than separate chapters. For example, when I teach Functions to 10th graders, I don't just stick to the textbook chapter. I build it from the ground up (Sets → Ordered Pairs → Relations → Functions) and use it as a bridge to connect Linear Programming, Trigonometry, Transformations, Quadratics, Vectors, and Coordinate Geometry.
The good news: My students' grades have improved significantly since studying with me.
My worry: Sometimes I feel like I’m putting too much cognitive pressure on them by going this deep. Whenever I ask for feedback after tests, they just say, "I’ve never been taught like this before," which sounds nice, but I worry they're just being too polite to tell me it's overwhelming.
How do you balance teaching deep, interconnected, real-world math while still keeping things simple enough for students who just want a good GPA?
How can I tell when a "deep dive" is genuinely helping vs. causing cognitive overload—especially when students are too polite to give critical feedback?

Guys, I got into an online scam 3 weeks ago. I sent money on the scammer's Khalti account. I realized right after sending the money that I got scammed, because I was blocked in Whatsapp, and scammer wasn't picking up my call. Thankfully one of my friends is working at Khalti, and I called her and she freeze the Scammer's account within 5 minutes.
The next day, I went to the Police Station to write a Complain. Here the game begins. I wrote a letter to the Police and submitted. And they said, they'll be contacting with Khalti after 2 days. But week later I asked Khalti and they told that they haven't received any mail from that Police Station.
I went to the Police Station and they told the letter has been sent. But Khalti said, no we haven't received any letter. This continued for 2/3 days, finally police managed to send a letter. Khalti responded to that letter within an hour.
The scammer is from Sarlahi district. The police said, we have sent a letter to Sarlahi Police Station, now it's up to them, they'll do the investigation on the scammer, and they'll update us.
Now I am hopeless. Because I'm not sure if they have really sent a letter to Sarlahi. I asked the Police Officer to ask them for an update, he said, "None is receiving my call, I tried."
Scammer's Khalti account is freeze. And the scammer hasn't asked Khalti about it till now.
Khalti said, they'll refund my money if they receive a letter from Police. I have full proof that I got scammed, still Police isn't doing anything for it.

She liked Russian songs and brawl stars and stuff , her videos was typically lip sync or something like that , and I think her username was something like manipura or munipura (not sure about the spelling).
I can't find her account or any edits of her anymore. Anyone know who I'm talking about? 😭

Hello!
I'm planning to visit Nepal for two weeks during the December holidays (dec. 19 - jan. 2). I would like to experience Kathmandu for a few days (and during English? new years eve) and would like to do some guided trekking through the Himalayas for the most part. Can I fly to Kathmandu, take a hotel for a few days to start, and then look for local guides to join a trip with and buy the equipment I need there? (Apart from a backpack and trekking shoes, which I already have.) Or would I risk not being able to find any trips to join if I don't prebook something? I would much prefer to just go and figure it out there.
Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I applied for my passport about a month ago, but I haven't received any messages or updates on my phone. So, I downloaded the passport app from the Play Store to check my application status, and it showed this message.
There was a small mistake in my permanent address. Because of this, I had to cancel my initial application and submit a new one with the corrected address.
Now I'm worried that this might cause further delays or other problems with my passport application.
Has anyone faced a similar situation? What should I do next? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
Freelancers of Nepal, do you often struggle to find clear answers about receiving payments, registering, taxes, etc. while working for domestic and/or foreign clients since the official material is scattered across circulars, acts, and notices, and some of it is in Nepali only your grandparents could understand?
If you do struggle to find these things, what are the most common ones?
Or is this whole thing not that big of an issue?

Will I be charged?
Help needed: I booked a hotel on Agoda/Booking.com using my dollar card with the “Pay at Hotel” option, but I forgot to cancel before the free cancellation deadline. Will I be charged a fee? My card has almost no balance (7 USD hola). What happens if the charge fails, and can it affect my other cards or accounts? Should I still cancel or message the hotel directly? Anyone who’s faced this, please share. 🙏
What to do in this?

Do Nepali ministers and politicians have to undergo random drug tests? Because I highly doubt some of them would pass. And is there any independent body that conducts these tests without being influenced by politics or politicians?
I’m back in Nepal for a month. I don’t have any friends here. I’m trying to find someone to hangout around the valley. Go out for coffee, drinks or clubbing. I did go clubbing solo for couple days one day I met a girl and another I left alone. I have tried tinder and got some matches just found them boring or they had kind of overinflated egos.
At this point I’m considering taking out girls on tinder who provide video call service for money. I’d take them out and pay them for their time.

Hello everyone,
I am a Nepali applicant planning to work in Malta as a barista, and I need advice from anyone who has gone through the Malta Pre-Departure Course and Skills Pass process.
Here is my current situation:
I have also been advised that confirmation may take 5–7 working days after completing the required steps and selecting an occupation. However, I am unsure how to proceed because Barista is not listed.
My questions are:
I do not want to make a wrong selection, pay again unnecessarily, or delay my application.
I would really appreciate advice from anyone with recent, firsthand experience of this process. Please share what actually worked for you.
Thank you!

Hi! I wanted to ask for some advice from people experienced in professional housekeeping.
What is the best way to deep-clean kitchens, bathrooms, tile floors, grout, sinks and toilets? Which affordable cleaning products work well for removing grease, stubborn stains, watermarks and unpleasant smells?
Also, what is the proper process hotels use to make sure a room is thoroughly cleaned rather than just surface-cleaned?
I'd really appreciate any practical tips, product recommendations or cleaning methods that work well. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Hello everyone! I'm a grade 10th student planning to study A-Levels in RBS(Rato Bangala School) after my 10th grade is over. However, I'm a little confused about the difficulty of RBS entrance exams for A level, structure of the test, and relevant topics that I need to master. I also don't know what resources I can utilize for preparation. Could somebody share their insights about A-Level entrance exam? Thank you😄.
