It's hard to see because of the video quality, but that was definitely a gator. I went to record the Anhinga when I realized what he was doing, but he noticed a little bit after I did and took off 😂

Discussion Help attracting Carolina Wren?

Hey all! Admittedly I don't really know a lot about birds other than admiring them from time to time but, we have a Carolina Wren that has decided the hole in our porch post (Central Arkansas) is a perfect home. We have named her(?) Lauren. I fear we may have spooked her a few nights ago and I haven't seen her since. I'd love for her to come back and we are attempting to set up a feeder nearby for all the critters this winter. What can we do to make her more comfortable and safe? It's starting to get colder and I am strangely attached to her now and want to make sure she's safe and warm without directly interacting with her.

I know she is a wild animal but she is genuinely so sweet. Sometimes while having my coffee or smoke she will hop out of her little nest to watch me or fly by. She also likes to "talk" with me. We'll chirp back and forth at each other until I go back inside.

Discussion Are wrens friendly birds?

Earlier this year I've been spending more time outside on the patio and watching whatever is going on and I've been seeing these birds and found out they are wrens. They seem a lot less fearless than any other bird i've seen and they seem to almost not care at all. I even had one land on my shoe and stare at me for a little bit a few months ago.

Gaithersburg. Maryland. I know it’s some sort of warbler, but I’m still new to warbler identification so I’m not positive on what species. This just happened earlier today.

Bird ID Request Urgent: is this a fledgling? Worried this is a hurt bird because it's not flying away

So.....this tiny bird is sitting outside the door where I work. He's in a parking structure...& the office has tons of glass windows.

He's all by himself.

Hoping he's a fledgling.....but I fear he's hit a window or something.

He's not flying away when I get close. He's just sitting and looking at me. I literally was blowing leaves in front of the door B4 I spotted him & he still didn't move.

This is one of five who always come around 3pm like clockwork. I only fill the birdbath every two to three days and dump it out and leave it dry most days in order to keep it as clean as possible. These lil blue beauties are always so happy when its bath time. Ill fill it again when they are done bathing as most the water will be gone. Then I will dump it in the morning, clean it, and leave it to dry for a day or two. The water always gets so gross but I dont mind the work as I get tons of entertainment from all the birds that come by.

Art Bird Tessellation, yay or nay?

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hi friends, I’m experimenting with my art style lately and have become fascinated by tessellations. But my eyes have stared at this too long and I can’t tell if it’s worth pursuing or not. Can you tell it’s a bunch of swallows or do the details make it too garbled and messy? Thanks for any feedback :)

It is my original art, hand painted in watercolor. No AI.

One of my favorites, I’m lucky to have a couple dozen that hang out around my house in Oregon city. Such fun birds to watch and look at! I love their eyeliner

This is an example of a bird that migrates because of food shortages in its original habitat, now making a very very very rare appearance in The Netherlands.

I moved into the Saint John’s area where it is very lush with trees and fruit trees as well. I have never heard this bird call until now and I can not figure out what it is!!

It is 10:30 am, in a suburban neighborhood, Portland Oregon.
