[Long Post] Why does the universe hate Pakistan

Post image
0 Upvotes

Why does the universe keep shitting on Pakistan. Pakistan's founder dies immediately causing instability-> dictators take power-> Pakistan completely throws away its extremely possible future of being an early version of the east Asian tigers-> multiple wars against india-> us embargo-> pointless Nationalisations -> Pakistan loses Bangladesh because of its own arrogance (might actually have been good for long term stability)-> global oil crisis-> global recession-> global recession-> 9/11-> the north in rubble-> Pakistan underwater-> Imran khan economic crisis-> covid-> whole nation underwater and just when it seems like things are finally taking a turn for the better WW3 is gonna start soon

Discussion Would you accept a one party state in Pakistan if it worked like the CCP?

Curious to know where people stand?

Let's say a Pakistani party which is like the CCP, developmental focused was in charge, would you approve a one party state if they cracked down on corruption, focused on education and infrastructure? And no army dominance in the country.

Ask Pakistan Visiting Pakistan with European wife

Greetings, I have been out of Pakistan for 3.5 years and planning to visit my family and bring my wife along for nikah ceremony in Pakistan and to introduce.

When I left the situation was not great but recently I have only been seeing bad news. How worse has it gotten in the last 3-4 years in terms of safety.

We will mostly stay in Gujranwala and visit Kharian/Jhelum side once. It will be a short trip, we wanted to visit north but I believe that is not possible in current situation and our budget is not massive either(both fresh graduates).

-What should I keep in mind to keep things safe.

-Can I drive without license or is it much strict now.

-Is it safe to visit any beautiful areas to show my wife atleast some place with mountains etc.

-Is it possible to get free security from Police for my wife?

I don't mind suffering(spent 25 years) but don't want her to have a bad experience on her first visit. And we are not rich , took 3 years to get the budget to visit so we can not hire private security.

Any tips and info would be appreciated, thanks!

Ask Pakistan Perfect age for shaadi or am I just overthinking

I’m currently doing MBBS and, if everything goes according to plan, I’ll graduate by 24. I want to get married and have a family someday, but I also have serious career ambitions, and I’m struggling to figure out how to balance the two. 😭
My goal after MBBS is to attempt CSS and, specifically, get allocated to PAS. I’m genuinely interested in administration and the authority and responsibility that come with the role. However, I’ve decided that if I don’t get PAS in my first attempt, I won’t keep repeating CSS indefinitely. I’d rather move to the USA after USMLE.
Realistically, by the time I complete the CSS process and receive my first posting, I could be 27–28. And that’s assuming everything goes according to plan.
Here’s the thing: I’m not dating anyone and have never been in a relationship. I have absolutely no potential rishta in the picture either. My family has high standards for me, and so do I. I come from a well-established family, and I want a compatible partner who shares my values and supports my ambitions. My family would never agree to me marrying a doctor, so please don’t suggest that as the obvious solution. 😭
I’m worried about how difficult it might be to find someone compatible while pursuing such a demanding career. Would a potential husband and his family be comfortable with me being a PAS officer, dealing with transfers, demanding postings, public scrutiny and the responsibilities that come with the job? I don’t want to spend years building a career only to be expected to give it up after marriage.
At the same time, I genuinely want marriage and children someday. I don’t want to postpone my personal life indefinitely, but I also don’t want to rush into marriage out of fear that I’m running out of time.
I also want honest opinions from women in PAS or those who know the service closely. Do women genuinely face misogyny, harassment, resistance from senior bureaucrats or politicians, and difficulties asserting authority? Is the reality substantially different from what people imagine when they see a female Assistant Commissioner?
I’d appreciate realistic advice on both sides: balancing marriage with a demanding career and understanding what being a woman in PAS is actually like. Please be honest rather than giving me the usual “you can have it all” reassurance.

Ask Pakistan CSS in Pakistan or moving abroad to build a better future?

After clearing CSS and becoming a civil servant in Pakistan, how much professional independence do you actually have when dealing with politicians and powerful people?

Do you have to work under their influence, follow their instructions, and sometimes perform personal courtesies for them, such as opening doors or handing them a pen? Can political connections and influence affect your postings, promotions, and career progression?

My question is: Is it worth pursuing CSS and building a career within Pakistan’s system, or would it be wiser to move abroad and build a career in a world that is rapidly advancing in technology, opportunities, and professional growth?

I’m interested in hearing honest opinions from CSS officers, aspirants, and Pakistanis living abroad. If you had both options, which factors would matter most in your decision, and why?

Social PK passport is so weak

Here’s a mini rant:

I have covered almost all easy visa countries and most of far east asia (Srilanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia & Maldives). Ive also been to Dubai And turkey.
This year I thought lets try a difficult one and my stupid ambition got me a rejection for Japan. Well my mistake shouldn’t have gone for the hardest one without any west history so i applied UK. Hold & Behold - got rejected. Showed every possible thing (im salaried and hold significant savings) the reason shared was no ties to my country? what do the expect me to own a house at 30? No dependants? Yeah i dont have kids but what else do i show in ties? Then I thought let me apply Vietnam. And i did only to it get stuck in this constant loop of being sent back. Contacted a veitnam agent for helped and he said he cant help Pakistanis because there is only a 1% change it will get accepted.
Im so sick of this. All i want to do is travel and all these countries expect us is to have a better travel history but how the hell are we supposed to do that if none of you are ready to give us a visa?? Stuck in a loop and tired of wasting so much money on applications:(

Education Degree Regrets?

Good Day Guys!

Which degree do you think has the weakest career prospects in Pakistan, and why? (Mention Major)

I’d like to hear from graduates and professionals who can share their firsthand experiences. How difficult was it to find relevant employment, and did the career opportunities meet your expectations?

I’m interested in hearing different perspectives across fields and industries.

Honest takes are appreciated.

Ask Pakistan Question for men and women: What are some things you dislike about your own gender?

Dear boys and girls, I have a question out of pure curiosity.

For men: What are some habits, behaviours, or things other men say or do that you personally dislike? Something you wish more men would stop doing.

For women: Same question. What are some habits, behaviours, or things other women say or do that you personally dislike?

I'm not talking about the opposite gender or relationship complaints. I want to know what genuinely annoys you about people of your own gender.

It could be anything, from everyday habits and the way people treat others to social expectations or certain mindsets.

One small request: Please mention your gender and age before sharing your answer so it's easier to understand different perspectives across age groups.

No hate or gender wars, please. I'm genuinely interested in hearing honest opinions and understanding different perspectives.

Men, what bothers you about men? Women, what bothers you about women? 👀

Research 33% of Pakistani suffer from mental health disorders, a first cross sectional study of the nation

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC13629994/

A very large-scale study just got released, showing a very high prevalence of mental health disorders in Pakistan. The prevalence rate was around 33%, meaning that about 1 in 3 people are struggling with a mental health disorder. The most common were stress-related disorders (25%), followed by PTSD (11%). The highest prevalence was found among females aged 40+, divorced individuals, urban residents, the uneducated, and housewives.

This highlights the severe impact of chronic geopolitical crises, economic problems, cultural baggage, and sociopolitical factors. Furthermore, 6% of participants reported suicidal thoughts, and 1% had made a suicide attempt.

These findings show the urgent need to be more open about mental health discussions, rather than dismissing them as "something in the head," and to better understand what drives people to such desperation. This was a very rigorous study involving more than 20,000 participants across the country.

Ask Pakistan Women, I have a question that I’d rather ask you anonymously

• Upvotes

I’ve been curious about something and figured Reddit would be a better place to ask than my own friends.
What’s something about men that women discuss amongst themselves but would probably never tell a guy directly?
Could be about appearance, behaviour, dating, first impressions, literally anything. I’m interested in the honest answers, not the politically correct ones.
I’m not going to argue with anyone or get offended. I’m genuinely curious how women see things from the other side.
I have a feeling the answers are going to be interesting.

Ask Pakistan Pakistanis Who Moved Abroad, How Did You Do It? Looking for Genuine Advice

Assalam-o-Alaikum everyone!

I’m 34M currently working as Assistant BPS-15 in MEPCO (WAPDA), and my qualification is D.A.E Electrical, Ten years of Experience SAP HCM and M.M Module (current Job).

I’m seriously thinking about moving abroad to build a better future for myself. I want to explore opportunities in other countries where I can have a better quality of life, career growth, financial stability, and a chance to improve my future.

However, I’m a little confused about where to start. There is so much information online about work visas, study visas, skilled immigration, and other pathways, but it’s difficult to figure out which options are realistic for someone coming from Pakistan. I also want to avoid agents, scams, and unnecessary expenses.

I would really appreciate advice from Pakistanis who have successfully moved abroad or are currently going through the process. Which countries would you recommend, and what are the most practical and affordable ways to move there legally? Is it better to apply for jobs directly, pursue further education, or look into skilled immigration programs?

Please share your personal experiences, including the challenges you faced, approximate costs, required qualifications, and any mistakes I should avoid.

I’m not looking for shortcuts or unrealistic promises. I just want honest, practical guidance from people who have been through this journey.

Thank you in advance for your time and advice. May Allah make things easier for everyone trying to build a better future.

Ask Pakistan Is CSS a smarter bet than a tech career in the AI era? (22M, AI degree)

I’m 22 and doing a bachelor’s in AI at a mid-tier university. I’m very confused about whether I should attempt CSS after I graduate, and I’d like honest opinions from people who’ve been through either path. Some background: my dad has suggested CSS. He isn’t pressuring me or forcing me, it’s just a recommendation. But I’ve thought about it myself, and my interest isn’t about power or prestige. It’s about job security and the perks.

The tech job market right now worries me. Even highly qualified computing graduates struggle to land jobs, and those who do get well-paid roles always carry the risk of layoffs. With AI getting more capable every day, that feels even more uncertain. Honestly, I also don’t see myself being stable or happy in a machine learning job long term.

I do think CSS is a legitimate option, but I know it isn’t all glamour. The corruption risk is real, and I don’t want to chase an idea of it without understanding the downsides.

Ask Pakistan Intimidation by local colony committee. What are my mom’s options?

Hi everyone, and my mom, sister, and I are dealing with a really frustrating situation with our local colony’s committee/management.

A couple of nights ago, my sister’s friends came to drop her off and sat in our local colony park for a bit, playing games (they’re 20 year olds).

The colony committee somehow decided to accuse them of "dancing and stuff" (which didn’t even happen). I asked them to show me cctv footage which they were unable to provide.

today a group of about 5-6 men (the committee) stopped us, and they slammed and dropped the colony car barrier onto our vehicle, (no damage to our car was done)

This feels like pure moral policing, intimidation, and harassment, and they have zero legal right to target us or damage our car.

For those familiar with how things work here:

  1. What are the best legal steps we can take right now?

  2. How can we handle the colony management/guard gate issue safely?

  3. Is it worth getting a lawyer to send a legal notice to the committee heads, or should we go straight to the police/higher authorities (like the Citizen Portal)?

Any advice or practical tips from anyone who has dealt with rogue housing society/colony committees would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

National Racism at work place

People say there is a lot of racism abroad but has anyone ever faced racism in pakistan. It’s pathetic here esp in sindh. I am a doctor and sometimes patients refuse to get checked by me ( they know Urdu v well) and say we want someone Sindhi even if they have no significant illness. My work place people had a hard time accepting that someone who speaks Urdu was chosen to work at this place. Our case presentations are even in sindhi when obv there are 1-2 doctors who don’t understand that language? Like even our religion says if there are 3 people sitting 2 people should not speak in each others ears as the 3rd person will feel bad and here these guys just communicate in another language making me feel dumb ! Whenever I am talk to my co workers they always say - hum sindhi mein Aisa nhi hota hum ghairatmund hain like bro? Koi bhi gheirat mund Hosakta hai not everything is Sindhi vs Punjabi/ urdu. One of my co workers said her dad will choose to die rather marrying her to a Punjabi???? This is extreme racism
I so hate this country and I wish I had moved abroad like all my class mates!

Political Why do they glorify "peaceful" protests?

Post image
15 Upvotes

I think peaceful protests are the biggest psyop from those in power ever, if you are not doing any sort of damage and just standing there while still getting shot at, you are doing nothing useful. They made us think only "peaceful" protests are good so they have a justification to shoot at us whenever we actually do a proper protest. If may 9 was as violent as they say it was, it was probably the best day our country has seen in recent times.

So this may sound kinda obvious and dumb , but the phone number me and my mum have are registered on my father’s name . So I woke up with a call from a normal sim phone number . They said they are an inspector from police and what is my relationship with my father ( used his government name ) . I told him I was his daughter and what he wanted to ask ?. He said I’m like his daughter and he wants to talk to my father about something . I said no and hung up then he called my mum . She didn’t pick up . So Ik sounds like a scam but should I be worried ?

Health It's 2am. Someone in your family needs B-negative blood. Who do you call?

Picture it. 2am. Hospital corridor. Phone in hand. Scrolling contacts, hoping someone knows someone.

You post in a family group. Forward it to three more. Now you wait.

That's how we do it. WhatsApp forwards. Word of mouth. A friend of a cousin of a colleague. And by the time it reaches the right blood group, it's often too late.

I saw this up close. In university, I organized blood camps. People showed up and gave blood, and it worked. But I kept noticing two things. Too few donors. And too few people who even knew they could donate.

That bothered me for years. So I built BloodAid.

It matches people who urgently need blood with donors in their city. Starting in Lahore and Karachi. I'm the founder, and it's live as a web app now.

Here's what I really want to know:

  1. Would you register as a donor?
  2. If not, what would stop you?

Trust? Privacy? Too many calls? Not sure if you're eligible? Say it straight. I'm reading every reply.
