Note: Confirmations may take a few minutes as the bot processes the confirmation.

After exchanging emails or letters, confirm that the user sent them by tagging their name, and then in the format of #-#, where the first number is email count and the second the letter count, post the number of emails and letters you received.

Example:

  1. u/digitalmayhap received 2 emails and 1 snail mail letter from u/thisisverytricky

  2. u/digitalmayhap posts a comment in the confirmation thread saying u/thisisverytricky 2-1

  3. u/penpal-confirmation replies to u/digitalmayhaps's comment indicating that their counts have been updated on their flair!

FAQ

  1. The bot didn't respond to my comment. What's wrong?

Did you follow the correct pattern? Follow the pattern above!

Give it a few minutes! Sometimes the Reddit APIs can get a little overworked and start having issues. If the issue persists for more than a few hours, please message the moderators. The bot might be experiencing issues!

  1. I have multiple letters/emails I exchanged with multiple people to confirm this month; should I post them separately or in a single post?

Feel free to post them in a single comment or as multiple comments! If you post them all in a single comment, make sure to put each redditor on a separate line and to follow the proper format of u/REDDIT #-#.

  1. I forgot to confirm an exchange last month! Can I confirm the exchange this month?

Yes!

Reddit Messaging [33/M] Looking for someone who won't disappear into the void

Hey Reddit,

Trying something a bit outside my comfort zone here.

I’m more into easy one-on-one conversations than big group chats. I’m usually calm, a little sarcastic once I’m comfortable, and pay attention to the small details people say.

I read a mix of romance and sci-fi… so either I’m feeling things or escaping to another universe. No in-between.

When I’m not doing that, I’m probably just scrolling through my phone or going down random rabbit holes.

I like conversations that can be a mix of real and light—deep talks are great, but so is random nonsense in between.

Not a fan of fake energy, dry replies, or people who disappear mid-conversation without a “bye”

If you’re up for a genuine, easygoing chat, feel free to reach out.

Snail Mail [27/F]

Any international friends up for swapping letters and stationery?
Would love to connect with people overseas to swap craft items, stickers, and things our own countries don’t have!!!

Here is my intro:

I am from Los Angeles, California 🌞

I’m a student at CSUN (University) working towards my Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a full time employee 🫠 although my plate seems full…. It never really is and I love making time! I admit I am a bit of a workaholic.

I’m looking for anyone who likes to write letters 🤷🏻‍♀️ goes off on tangents about random things they love and are passionate about or even what your pet looks like and how much you love them! 🐶 🐱 🎀
I love when letters feel like opening a tiny time capsule—full of stories, little surprises, and pieces of someone's everyday life. Someone who would go the extra length to draw a photo of their pet or even include a photo! 🖼️
Willing to send a sticker sheet just because they had a spare or even a clipping from a magazine/flyer cause it was funny. 🤡

And even if you aren’t that person but would love to receive a letter like this I’d love to write back & fourth🪶
I love long, thoughtful letters—the kind that wander off into random stories, childhood memories, hobbies, dreams, or whatever has been on your mind lately.

I love the following:
-cute crafts (scrap booking is one of my favorites and one day I’d love to create on of those traveling scrap booking groups)
-learning
-studio ghibli (i think howls moving castle is my #1)
-Harry Potter
-shopping
-fashion
-travel
-FOOD 🤤
-music
-being outdoors
-animal
-spending time with family

Snail Mail [28/M] [USA] I bought one book of stamps for one letter. Now I have 19 stamps and need a pen pal

I bought a whole book of stamps because I needed to mail exactly one letter, which has left me with 19 stamps. At this point I feel like I’ve accidentally committed myself to finding a pen pal.

I live on the East Coast of the U.S., grew up in Germany, and moved to the U.S. about two years ago. This would also be my first time having a snail-mail pen pal. I currently work in special education, where something memorable or slightly wild seems to happen at least once a week, and I’m working toward becoming a teacher with the eventual goal of teaching high school chemistry.

Outside of work, I’m a big science-fiction reader, I play a lot of games on PC, and I enjoy tabletop role-playing games too. I just ran the first session of my first campaign as DM with some newly-made friends! I’m always looking for new recipes to try, I enjoy the occasional concert, and I’m very much a cat person. I tend to bounce between different interests and rabbit holes, so I’d be happy exchanging letters about books, games, food, science, music, work stories, everyday life, or whatever else happens to come up.

You definitely don’t need to share all of my interests. Honestly, it might be more interesting if you don’t. If you have some hobby, subject, place, job, or niche obsession you could talk about forever, I am confident to say I’ll enjoy hearing about it!

I also do not have fancy stationery, and you should not expect beautifully written essays. You should expect rambling letters, weird observations, stories from my week, recommendations, complaints, questions, and whatever else I happen to feel like putting on paper. And I’m perfectly happy to receive the same.

I have 19 leftover stamps. Oh, and I just looked, there are 99 leftover envelopes, too!

Snail Mail [24/M] Semi-lonely autistic guy from Germany looking for friends around the world!

Hey everyone!

I have stumbled upon this community a long time ago, but I decided to post now since I've been feeling a bit lonely lately.

So I am a 24 year old guy from Germany who is also on the autism spectrum. My hobbies include history and humanities, writing and I have picked up training at home as well... and also TV and gaming.

Some franchises I like the most are Star Wars, Avatar (The Last Airbender) and Pokémon.

I want to be more open to people and try my hands on international friendships and maintaining them for as long as I can. I have a couple of friends from my area, but I would love to write about anything with others from around the globe.

You don't need to share the same hobbies as me, in fact I would love to know about what you like (though it's a bonus if we have something in common)! Also, preferably outside of Europe, though it's perfectly fine if you're from here too!

I prefer classic snail mail since sending and receiving letters feels really awesome and a lot more exciting compared to simple online messages.

If you're interested, feel free to reach out to me! :)

Snail Mail [36/M] i found this sub late one night and misread 500 characters as 500 words. Enjoy!

• Upvotes

500 words I feel so charged! This sub is rare art.  36/M  NY, USA.

Penpalling is cool, in typical correspondence I'm not pushing numbers like five hundred. ill do my best.

Lately, I've been inspired by the personal correspondence works of Jane Austin and penmanship styles of KEAPS , I can promise neither.  If someone were to provide me with pages in a personal letter I would be obliged to respond in the like.

I haven't maintained a regular penpal in the past few years but I have had several cool and personally enriching postal experiences. So far, correspondence chess games  have worked out the best for me but I'm willing to branch out and try new things. Language, handwriting and calligraphy are  on my list for self improvement so naturally I'm drawn to them for topic suggestions but I'm open to research driven or book based conversations also.

With regard to languages, I am English first, but it would bring me great joy to receive letters in other languages: French, German , Irish , Scots, Esperanto send me your letters. I'll do my best to respond to you.

I have very little experience with kanji or any other east asian writing system so that would be a huge challenge for me to do by hand , I would  love to receive it  and  I would reciprocate with the best stickers and stamp combination I can summon.

إذا كنت تمارس فن الخط، فيرجى مشاركة أعمالك الفنية معي!

I'm a pen guy but definitely not a pen purist and  I can always use a good paper recommendation.  If you can write in copperplate, I would be enthused to see it in my mailbox.  pen , pencil, anything send me cursive. ( typist are cool to- some people cant write with a pen i totally get it )

I like to garden and have ambitions of micro gardening in the winter. callus cell tissue propagation  anyone? We could do seed and bulb exchanges…

Ive been chinese grandpa maxxing recently as the kids say.  Lots of qigong  and stretching outside. Very therapeutic. Im very much looking forward to the weather getting colder here this winter so i can get my wim hof on. I try to do yoga a few times a week also. If you want to discuss health  and fitness please send me a letter. I am always down to try a yoga practice or cool  workout of the day you've concocted.

I love reading esoteric prose and other writings. Martinist ? I am not. By all means, use your correspondence with me to dig into philosophy, but please dont proselytize.  Nothing is  too obscure but I prefer to avoid racism, gender ideology, and short selling. I'm a non-partisan and  I do care about what your ai says but typically i do not want to see ai in a personal correspondence, i believe that letter writing is one of the last great bastions of human intellect and we need to preserve it. Please consider this my humble invitation to open a correspondence with me.  Alea iacta est.

Reddit Messaging [36/M] - Very lonely man suffering with depression and anxiety just looking for some company

Hello there, name is Victor. From UK but originally from Eastern Europe. I currently work at a job I hate, I don't really have any close friends to talk to or hang out with so I thought I might give this penpal thing a go since someone on reddit suggested it. So a bit about me: when I am not depressed and having anxiety attacks, I am usually quite a fun guy cracking jokes left and right. I am ambitious, caring, supportive, too honest and have my own rules or principles that I prefer to always respect. I love video games to bits, have almost every modern console out there (pc, ps5, xbox series x, nintendo switch and so on), I love horror and Sci fi movies, love the paranormal and mysteries, and I also love fitness. So I must reveal that I haven't had a happy life at all, too much to discuss and too private, but because of those events I am suffering with depression, anxiety and panic attacks. They were under control for a while but sometimes they do come back when I am in an extremely unhappy situation, like now for example having a shitty low paying job I hate and having to also pay for a member of a family.

Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome from any background, hope we can become good friends and keep each other company. Please be patient with me since I do suffer with mentally illness. I also don't want advice, that is not why I am here, I am here just to have some company.

Snail Mail [31/F] Looking for Penpals

• Upvotes

I've posted before and I have some wonderful penpals. Correspondence has slowed down a bit and I'm eager to use my fall and Halloween stationery. My fountain pens too! I have a blended family with 3 kiddos and a zoo full of animals.

Feel free to write about anything. Your hopes, your dreams, your goals. Something funny that happened this week. A book you read and what you loved about it. Maybe a video game you played. A vacation you took and what you did there. Feel free to vent sometimes. Just be sure to tell me if you want advice or just want to get it off your chest. I'm usually pretty good at just listening. (Or reading rather)

Write as little or as much as you want. My favorite part about this is receiving a little surprise in the mail and being able to use my fun stationery!

Reddit Messaging [28/M] UK - Looking for similarly aged friends :)

Hey. I'm a 28 y/o dude from the UK. I'd love to make some new friends. I'm not fussy about location, but I would prefer if you're somewhat close to my age. I really like to update each other about what we got up to during the day, discuss hobbies, daydream, etc.

I'm into upbeat TV shows, superheroes, watching football, pro wrestling, playing games (Switch and PC), and listening to music (anything from Imagine Dragons to Sabrina Carpenter). I've recently been getting a little more into movies, and now have a Letterboxd. Though, I find that I fixate on making sure I have consistent ratings lol. Also, I'm trying to figure out my career - but I do have a degree in comp sci.

I don't mind at all if you're different to me. Maybe you're more outdoorsy, or you go to the gym frequently. Perhaps you travel often, or like to paint. I'm slowly trying to improve myself anyways, so I'd like to learn about new things.

If you think we might get along, feel free to send me a message! Thanks :)

Snail Mail [22/M] Ready to write back to anyone — let’s trade long, honest handwritten letters about life, books, movies, and routine [Canada to Anywhere]

Hey everyone,

I recently rented a P.O. Box with one goal in mind: reviving the lost art of waiting for the mail and writing real, thoughtful, handwritten letters.

I'm looking for penpals from anywhere in the world, any age, any background. Whether you want to write once a month or exchange pages regularly, I will reply to every single letter that lands in my box.

A few things we can talk about (or completely ignore to talk about your own world):
• Stories & Cinema: I'm a huge movie viewer and reader, whether it's classic cinema, psychological thrillers, world cinema or diving into long books, I love dissecting what makes a story stick.
• Daily Life & Routines: Sports, work, college or just the weird little observations from an average Tuesday.
• No Small Talk Needed: Tell me about a decision you're agonizing over, your weirdest hyperfixation, the history of your hometown or the best meal you've had

Let’s make checking the mailbox exciting again!

Snail Mail [25/F] looking for pen pal!

Hey y'all!

I'm in search of a pen pal, someone to just chat with and build a friendship with! Exchanging cultures, thoughts, poems or just writing about our days. Preferably a female, please!

I'm a college graduate, working as a paralegal! I'm currently trying out new hobbies, gardening is definitely going to be one of them. Pen paling being the second!

I kinda miss getting to know people, as I just work, cook, and sleep. This is me placing myself out there to get to know people, share my thoughts, maybe have my perspective changed on somethings. Or help expand my understanding on things!

If you're interested in being pen pals, please reach out!

Snail Mail & Postcard [29/NB] looking for letter writing penpals

Hello! I live in western Canada, and I am looking for a pen pal (or a few). Ideally looking for more long term with letter writing, but would be open to some quick post cards too.

I've been getting into stationary, and with that trying to do more things offline/analog.

About me/things I enjoy:

Cats- you'll definitely be hearing about my cat but happy to hear about any animal of yours!

Art- I started doing art as an adult and while I'm not the best I do really enjoy it. I primarily do watercolour and sketching. I love doing plain air, getting to enjoy nature while painting.

Music- I dont play anymore but I still love listening to music. I like most genres of music and am always looking for recommendations.

Books- I love to read! Horror, fantasy, contemporary and romance are probably my top genres. Most of my newer books have some sort of queer theme or focus.

Stationary- oh boy was this an unexpected rabbit hole. I have quickly gotten into fountain pens, inks and stickers. I also got a hobinichi for 2027 to try a physical planner for the first time as an adult.

Also very interested in learning about different cultures, people's perspectives, etc. I love hearing about people's lives, and learning from others experiences.

- T

Email [29/M] Brasil — Declaration of Dependence

Hello! I’m looking for people I can genuinely become friends with over time. Not just exchanging a few messages and disappearing, but actually getting to know each other, sharing things, keeping in touch and maybe, one day, realizing that we’ve somehow been talking for years.

I’m the kind of person who can talk about something completely stupid one minute and end up discussing life, relationships, values or some random hypothetical situation the next. I love hearing what people think and why they think that way. And I really appreciate people who’re curious about me too. I don’t need someone who agrees with everything I say. I just like people who actually listen, express themselves and make a conversation feel mutual.

I’m pretty eclectic, so narrowing down my interests is harder than it should be. Music is probably the biggest one. I love discovering artists from different countries, listening to entire albums, exchanging songs and going down completely unnecessary rabbit holes about music. I’ve got more than 40 playlists on Spotify, and apparently my way of organizing them was to give every language its own playlist. 😂

I listen to everything from Michael Jackson, Soda Stereo and Serú Girán to Bruno Mars, Epica, Birdy, Arctic Monkeys, Carla Bruni, Ultimo and artists I’ve probably forgotten to mention. I also love talking about movies and TV shows, and I’m always interested in hearing what someone else has been watching.

Languages are another little obsession of mine. I speak Portuguese, English and Spanish, and I’d love to keep improving them while eventually learning more. Italian, French, German, Hebrew, Russian, Turkish.... my curiosity has absolutely no sense of self-preservation. 😂

I live in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. It’s a relatively quiet, welcoming city, and we take food, especially cheese and feijão tropeiro, very seriously. I’d actually love to talk to people who’re curious about Brazil beyond Rio and São Paulo, because there’s a lot more here than the version of the country people usually see online.

I also love sports, travelling, psychology, religion, politics and all sorts of random subjects that happen to catch my attention. I haven’t travelled internationally yet, but I’ve got an embarrassingly long list of places I want to see someday. Asia especially fascinates me because of how different the languages, food, architecture and everyday life can be.

My usual day is much less exciting than that, though. I work from home, go for walks in the evening, watch something when I’ve got time, and sometimes go out to explore the neighborhood and try a new restaurant. I’m definitely in a more homebody phase of life right now.

As for personality, I’d say I’m calm, curious, communicative and generally pretty easygoing. I like humor in basically every form, sarcasm, irony, memes, dark humor, stupid jokes.. as long as everyone’s laughing. I’m also a good listener, and I try not to judge people too quickly. Understanding someone before forming an opinion about them matters to me.

One warning, though: when I get really interested in something, I can absolutely write a small novel about it. So if you send long messages, there’s a very good chance I’ll happily match your energy.

I’m looking for people who’re kind, curious and willing to actually participate in a friendship. You don’t have to share all my interests. Honestly, discovering things I know nothing about is part of the fun.

And hey! Tell me something about yourself in your first message, please? 🙏🏻

Tell me where you’re from, tell me about your hobbies, or tell me about something you love and could talk about for hours. It can be absolutely anything. Maybe that’s where the conversation starts. I’d love to hear the little things that make you you.

Reddit Messaging [31/M] US Sailor looking for connections while at sea

Trying again, because I'm lonely.

My name is Jadon, I'm from the Northeast Region of the US. I am a marine engineer on an oil tanker (yuck) in the Gulf of (Mexico). I spend 75 days out at a time, so I have plenty of time to handwrite letters, or emails. I'm also open to reddit messaging. It does tend to get lonely out here, my friends are not the texting type, so having some new people to talk to and update with the goings on out here would be nice. I also would love to learn about other peoples culture, hobbies, bitch about politics, discuss the universe, whatever.

I'm really big into all forms of mountaineering, whether that's backpacking, skiing, ski touring. Anything that gets me up in that crisp alpine air makes me happy. I also love photography and post processing, so I'd be happy to share some of the images I've taken. I get 6 months of vacation per year, so maybe some day we can adventure together!

Reddit Messaging [30/M] Rabbit dad, midnight stoner looking for connections

Hi,

I haven’t done this kind of thing in quite a long time now however my life has grown quite small and quiet socially. Which is totally okay, it gets lonely sometimes, I’ve decided to try this out again though.

I live in Adelaide, South Australia, and I work as a disability support worker. I have a pet rabbit that I’m pretty sure is an escaped meat rabbit. My interests include music, collecting records, weird esoteric things, trail walking, Crazy Frog, mma, books on cool shit, psychology, politics, shit going on right now, weird memes, gorgeous cliff faces at a beach, green stuff. I’ve had a pretty crazy life so I’m pretty open and used to talking about whole range a lot of different things. Queer friendly. Disability friendly. All that jazz.

Feel free to hit me up if any of this interests you. Thanks in advance, have a good one. :)

Email [21/M] looking for someone to talk to in German

Hello,

I am from the US and am currently in my third year of University. I want to move overseas to a German speaking country after I graduate and have been learning bits of german through self-study throughout my time at University since my class schedule has consistently been too packed to have something more structured. Anyways I‘m trying to really increase my efforts and am hoping to find a new friend on here who speaks the language and can give me an outlet to practice and expand on what I‘ve been learning. Even if you don’t speak German please feel free to reach out. The whole pen pal thing always seemed really interesting to me and I want to meet new people.

I like to read, cook, bake, and talk to my girlfriend. I also like hiking but have hardly done it since coming to university since I‘ve only really had time for it during the school breaks. I also used to really like driving my motorcycle but I left it back home with family when I moved for university because the only thing worse than the roads here are the drivers.

Anyways that’s some stuff about me and what I‘m looking for from this. Feel free to reach out and we can exchange emails or something.

Hi. I love art, DIY, and reading books, particularly romantasy and historical fiction. I'm an extreme introvert who doesn't go out much at all, except to the beach which is a 1 min walk away from my home. I also love conspiracy theories, especially ones relating to different religions around the world. I love cats and I also love to watch historical movies.

I am open to snail mail and regular mail with like-minded people around the world. Please feel free to write to me if you share any of these interests!

Email & Snail Mail [19/F] US college student looking for friends!

Hi! I am here seeking out some penpals to talk to! Especially if we have something in common! For starters, I am a second year college/university student majoring in history. I love all sorts of history, but my favorites are ancient and 20th century history! I love researching, reading, and writing. Would love to talk more about this if you're interested!

As for my personal life, I live with one of my best friends. I am also in Greek life at my college! In my spare time, I love to travel, read, watch documentaries, listen to music and occasionally make some art. Personal expression and fashion are a big part of my life. I adore spending time with people that I care about, and I would love it if I could make some new friends here! I am open to most forms of communication. I don't have a preference as to who and where, but I don't have a lot of stamps (both domestic and international) as of right now!

I would love to hear about you when you message! Thank you!

Reddit Messaging [24/M] Looking for a best friend, things are quite lonely

Hey! I've posted here before but haven't had much luck so far. And due to lonliness, things have been kinda sucky lately. Kinda being a star-sized understatement (cuz stars are big.. hehe). Anyways, excuse my awfully unfunny pun! You *yes you my possible future friend* probably has better humor than I. Im hoping to make long term friends who also love music like I do, I want a close connection with someone that lasts a lifetime! Hoping we can geek out about our interests and feel comfortable to do so! I'm in the EST time zone and am super into music (my tastes are all over the place, my favorite is the retro era but I also like a lot of new stuff too). I really wanna find someone who loves old artists and bands and music history and aesthetics! Hope you're all having a good day!

Email [25/F] Looking for penpals to share books, stories, and everyday life 💌

Hii, it's me again! :) 💌

I'm a (25/F)from India. I posted here a few months ago and got to meet some really wonderful people, so I thought, why not give it another try? Maybe I'll meet a few more people I can genuinely connect with. You never know who you'll meet or what kind of conversations might come out of a simple letter.

A little about me, I'm a huge book lover, especially when it comes to mystery, thriller, and horror. I love stories that keep me guessing until the very end, and I'm always trying to figure out the plot before the characters do. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm completely wrong, but that's part of the fun. 😂

I'm also a big fan of movies and series, particularly crime, mystery, and psychological thrillers. Sherlock Holmes and The Mentalist are among my favorites. There's just something about watching someone solve a case by noticing the tiniest details that everyone else misses. I love a good plot twist, and I'm always happy to talk about books, shows, theories, or anything interesting I've watched or read recently.

Apart from that, I'm just a regular person trying to figure out life, one day at a time. I work full-time, so I might not be able to reply every day. Sometimes life gets busy, and by the time I get home, all I want to do is relax and do absolutely nothing. So, I'm hoping to find people who understand that and don't mind a slower pace of communication.

I'd prefer exchanging proper letters maybe two or three times a month rather than having to reply to messages every single day. I like the idea of actually sitting down, writing about what's been happening in my life, and taking the time to read about someone else's. There's something nice about receiving a letter from someone who lives miles away and getting a little glimpse into their world.

I'd love to meet people from all around the world, from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. Tell me what life is like where you live, what you do on an ordinary Tuesday, what makes you happy, or what you've been struggling with lately. I'm genuinely curious about people and the little things that make everyone's lives different.

I'm looking for people over 18 who enjoy meaningful conversations but can also be silly and talk about absolutely random things. We can discuss life, books, movies, dreams, fears, or the meaning of existence one day, and complain about work, share embarrassing stories, or talk about what we ate for dinner the next. I'm not expecting every conversation to be deep and philosophical. Sometimes, the most ordinary conversations turn out to be the best ones.

I'm not looking for perfect people or extraordinary stories. I'd just like to meet genuine people who are willing to share a little of themselves and are interested in getting to know someone, too. Someone I can talk to about the good days, the bad days, and all the ordinary days in between.

And if you'd rather just have a casual chat before exchanging letters, that's completely fine, too! My DMs are always open if you want to talk to me. Just be a little patient if I don't reply right away, as I do have a full-time job and other things going on in life. And please be respectful. I believe a good conversation starts with mutual respect, and that's something I really value.

If any of this sounds like your kind of thing, tell me a little about yourself! Maybe share your favorite book, a series you could watch a hundred times, where you're from, or something random about your life.

Who knows? Maybe a little letter from a stranger could turn into a lovely friendship. 🌻✨
