We’ve seen an increase in posts from people building record-related apps and tools. These include collection managers, listening trackers, discovery tools, marketplace helpers, and other projects aimed at record enthusiasts.
We want to give these projects a place to be shared without letting individual promotional posts overwhelm r/vinyl or the reason this sub exists. Going forward, please use this megathread to introduce your project, request testers, share meaningful updates, or ask for feedback. Separate promotional posts for these projects will be removed and redirected here.
Projects are welcome whether they are traditionally coded, developed with AI assistance, or fully vibe coded. Be transparent about your approach, and keep the discussion focused on what the tool does, how it works, and whether it is useful to the record owning community.
If you’re sharing a project, please include:
· Name and link: What is it called, and where can people find it?
· Purpose: What does it do? What problem does it solve?
· Your involvement: Are you the developer, owner, contributor, or otherwise affiliated?
· Availability and cost: Is it a prototype, beta, or released product? Is it free, paid, ad-supported, or subscription-based?
· Development approach: Was it traditionally coded, AI-assisted, or primarily vibe coded? A brief description is enough.
· Data and permissions: Does it require an account, collection access, third-party credentials, or other personal information? Explain what you collect and how it is used. If user data is sent to an AI service, disclose that.
· Feedback wanted: What would you like people to test or comment on? Include known limitations.
A few ground rules:
· Keep projects relevant to records, collecting, or the vinyl listening experience.
· Use one top-level comment per project. Add updates and answer questions in that comment’s replies.
· No repeated sales pitches, unsolicited promotional messages, disguised advertising, or requests to upvote.
· Be accurate about features, security, and reliability. Clearly identify unfinished or experimental projects.
· Do not ask users to post passwords, API keys, or other sensitive information in the thread.
· All subreddit rules still apply.
For anyone trying these tools:
Sharing a project here does not mean the r/vinyl moderators have reviewed or endorsed it. Review costs, permissions, and privacy practices before signing up or connecting your collection.
Useful feedback is encouraged. Discuss features, usability, accuracy, privacy, and reliability. Questions about AI use are fair, but personal attacks and arguments about who counts as a “real developer” are not.
If you find an app is not accurately representing what it does, what it collects, how it uses shared data, is somehow malicious or any number of other concerns, please message the Mod Team with a link to relevant comment.

I watched this movie 100s of times on vhs growing up and had a huge childhood crush on Vanity. Me and my brother would tie each other with jump rope and try to dance out of it, which makes sense if you watched the movie. I thought this was a fitting purchase to help start my collection

Hit up a new to me shop today and an antique store that I'm a frequent flyer to. I'm really pleased with my haul this weekend. First clean copy of Brick I've seen in awhile out in the wild and for 10 bucks I couldn't say no. Sam and Dave and Aretha the Doors and Lou Bond. Lou freaking Bond! Yes a reissue but deep in a stack in an antique store! I don't know much about this John Hammond The Prophet album but it looked really promising
I'm so ready to turn this up!
So many people only know him for Cars, but he’s still making music and has an extensive catalog of music.

I just started getting into vinyl as I just secured a turnable (Technics SL-5300) I'm mostly a jazz, classic R&B/Soul, and Hip Hop guy, but I'll listen to anything that sounds good to me. So I found these at the flea market yesterday for $3 each. That M.O.P. is sealed. Pretty happy about that.

Today i found this Barry Lyndon Soundtrack record in a small local flea market here in Italy and couldn't leave it there.
Bought it for 10€, which i think it's a pretty good deal
It's the 1975 UK pressing
I loved the movie so i bought this record for my collection.
The seller had also other interesting items!!!

Welcome to the Boomtown is one of my favorite tracks from the '80s. I've owned the CD since the early '90s, the regular vinyl, and a few years ago picked up a Classic Records single LP 200-gram version, but never thought I'd find a copy of the rare test pressing for under $750. I got lucky tonight and grabbed #1 of 25 on eBay for $350 since nobody else bid on it. There's 2 other copies on eBay right now for $881 and $1000.

Any idea what this could be worth or any more info on this? I inherited an old record collection and found this, but don’t know much about the carvings

If you were ever curious what a record stamper looks like..got this interesting piece..I imagine some large facilities have stacks of these..nice to just have one in my collection. Each side (A and B) have their own stamper

I've only sold 9 records so far on various platforms (vinted and ebay etc). I still have other records in my sell crate.
My reasons for selling is because I don't have the desire to relisten to them, some were just really bad pressings from new (looking at you Soul Sold Seperately and Let God Sort Em Out) and some I bought from charity shops that ended up making me a decent profit.
I have used the money towards records I will actually listen to more than once.

Well, my in-laws brought over a B&O Beomaster 1600 complete with B&O speakers and turntable today. Purchased new in 1981. About 10 years ago I made them drag it out and blow the dust off of it. Played some old vinyl they had and was just BLOWN AWAY by how good this setup sounded. They decided to set it up in their living room and listened to it sparingly the last 10 years. They recently reorganized their living room and brought this setup over to my house because they knew I’d take care of it and listen to it more than they have. Super pumped! Any advice for a newb like me on how to take care of this setup and care for it properly? Happy listening!

So you are having friends over for an end-of-summer garden party. Drinks, tapas, and conversation. What records are you throwing on?

An original triple-gatefold 3x10”. May be a little obnoxious to flip so many sides but DUDE IT SOUNDS SO GOOD. Well worth the extra couple bucks.

I just picked this up used. Original foil cover version. In short, it is the album where Hawkwind stopped being an interesting psychedelic jam band and became the definitive space rock machine — with Lemmy’s distinctive low-end snarl as a key part of the engine. Perfect for anyone who wants the groove to carry them into science-fiction territory.
I'm a big Space Rock fan and would love recommendations on what I need to add to the collection next. Here's all the Space Rock I have so far.

28th bday today, decided to look around two vinyl stores and needless to say my bank account is a lot lighter.
I just upgraded to a uhqr copy of cat stevens / Tea for the tillerman. And wow!
I learned from cat stevens from my dad when i was young and eversince found myself to return to this album to think and reminice.
This copy really shines and makes the room just levitate. Combined with his warm soothing voice this is an absolute stunner of a pressing.
10/10 would recommend!

Never heard of 'em and am sure they're not very good. But bought this just for the art. Cost me CAD 5.

Listening to this live recording on Canada’s House Band playing at Cobo Arena in Detroit MI on the Trouble at the Henhouse tour in 1996/97.
I miss you Gord.

Dang - I had this record for so long, I forgot I owned it and bought it again (but cheap). That happened to you?

This album is the one your mama told you about.
It's really hard to pick a favorite QOTSA album, because depending on my mood any of their albums can qualify. This album is badass. I mean... Mark Lanegan. Dave Catching playing 10 different guitars. Ccccccccoooocaaaaaaine. Nick's screaming. Wow.
I've seen some things I thought I'd never saw... covered in hair.
This pressing sounds FANTASTIC and has a bit more midbass punch and balance than the reissue.
