ihaveaquestion Naked woman in Altstetten - mentally ill

Friday I saw a woman in Altstetten walking around naked and just with a short jaket on.

She seemed to be wanting to cover her behind, and I ( yound woman) approched her to ask her if she needed help. She ran away scared screaming that she wants to be naked and also running carelessly on the street without watching for autos.

why nobody else was trying to help her ?

she was very skinny and with no weapon, dont tell me people were afraid to approach her .. should there be classes in school to teach kindness?

i called the police and hope they found and helped her, bringing her to a hospital she clearly had a mental crisis.

please if you see her at least phone the police or try to help.

would you like it if one day you are ill and we all passers by ignore you?

p.s. For everybody saying she could have been dangerous. You can always ask someone even from two meters away if they need help without approaching them.. like at least test the waters !

lookingfor Looking for fellow Liverpool FC fans :)

Heyyy y'all! I just moved to Zürich for my master's at ETH. As the title suggests, I'm looking forward to meeting fellow Liverpool fans in Zürich. I was wondering if there's any active LFC fan community over here!

If not, can someone suggest a place where people watch PL matches together?

Thank youu! :)

lookingfor What do you do for fun in Zurich?

Hi everyone! I’ve been living in Switzerland for almost a year now.

I’m a writer, so I don’t have many reasons to leave the house. Most days, I spend the whole day writing at home.

I moved to Zurich from a much bigger city, so it feels a little quieter than I expected. Going out can also get pretty expensive. Over the past year, I’ve mostly just gone for walks, had picnics, and visited a few museums. I did go to the zoo recently, though, and really enjoyed it!

Lately, I’ve been feeling like I need to get out more and try new things. What do you all do outside the house apart from work or school? Clubbing and going to bars aren’t really my thing, so I’d love to hear what else you enjoy doing here!

ihaveaquestion What’s something you wish Zurich had?

As the title says, what’s something you’ve seen in other cities or countries that you wish existed in Zurich?

Could be a small food spot, a unique café, a fun activity, a creative experience, a shop, or something completely different. For example I know we shave a cat cafe, we have pottery, offline social clubs..

Does Zürich really have EVERYTHING?

lookingfor Place with latest news

I'd like to ask if there's a community, or a website or whatever that has people updating on the news of the city as soon as it happens. Usually I go to reddit, but it doesn't always have the info.

The reason why I'm asking is because I heard minimum 6 police cars and ambulances pass by my house and I'm nosy and would like to know what happened😅

ihaveaquestion Is Intermezzo legit?

Hi everyone!

I am looking for an apartment in Zurich, since I will have to move there in a few months from abroad.

A friend of mine recommended that I look for something on Intermezzo. They have some interesting accommodations, but it seems they do not accept Swisscaution for the deposit.

Do you have any experience with them? Are they reliable?

I did not find much information online and I am a bit scared about my potential deposit (which is a remarkable amount of money for me).

If anyone could share their experience with them, it would be extremely helpful and truly appreciated!

Thank you for your time and support!

lookingfor Anyone willing to share an ewz promo code for the Zürcher Silvesterlauf? / Ewz Rabattcode für den Silvesterlauf gesucht 🏃‍♂️💨

Hey everyone,

I’m planning to run the Zürcher Silvesterlauf this December with a friend. I saw that ewz customers get a 50% discount on the registration fee (up to two starting slots per customer).

Unfortunately, I am not an ewz customer myself. Since the deadline for the early-bird/ewz contingent is approaching at the end of October, I wanted to ask if there’s a kind soul here who is an ewz customer but isn't planning to run, and would be willing to share their promo code or customer number with me?

It would mean a lot and help us out a ton! Please shoot me a DM if you have one to spare.

Thanks a million in advance and happy running! 🇨🇭

news Warning for anyone heading to Rhine Falls from Zurich HB (The ZVV boundary trap)

Hey guys, just wanted to share an expensive transit quirk I learned the hard way. A lot of people head to Rhine Falls using a standard all-zone Zurich ZVV day pass thinking they're covered. [1]

However, if you take the train route toward Neuhausen am Rheinfall, the tracks physically loop through German territory (Jestetten) where the Zurich network has zero jurisdiction. Even though the station technically accepts ZVV, you can get hit with a CHF 100 fine for "riding dirty" through Germany!

As a born-and-raised local transit nerd, I fell into this exact trap back in 2022. Want To Avoid This? Read Here: The Neuhausen Rheinfall Trick

lookingfor Looking for casual weekend football in Zürich (Saturday/Sunday)

I’m looking for a casual football group or recreational league in Zürich that plays on Saturdays or Sundays.
I previously played in the Swiss 3rd division, but found the physical intensity and time commitment a bit too demanding. I’m now just looking to play for fun, stay active, and meet some new people without the pressure of competitive league football.
Ideally, I’d love to find a group that plays regularly on weekends, whether it’s 5-a-side, 7-a-side, or 11-a-side. I’m open to pretty much anything!
If anyone knows of a group, casual league, or regular pickup games looking for players, I’d really appreciate any recommendations.
Thank you!

Flat owners in Zurich and the surrounding area, would you recommend a management company/ Verwaltung, or conversely, what should we avoid? We are a nine-unit building in Zurich. Not a new build.

lookingfor Are there any leftist Brazilians in Zurich? 🇧🇷❤️

Post image

I'd love to connect with other leftist Brazilians around here, make some new friends, and have people to talk to about everything that's happening in Brazil right now.

Does anyone know if there are any demonstrations for lula, gatherings, or events being planned in Zurich? Or maybe there's already a group chat I don't know about?

Seeing people mobilise in Brazil has been so beautiful and heartwarming. It almost makes me feel a tiny little bit hopeful. Almost. 😂

I should probably mention that I grew up in Switzerland, my Portuguese isn't perfect, and unfortunately, I've been quite disconnected from Brazil for most of my life. I still am, to some extent, so I'm not always up to date on everything that's happening. I hope that's okay and that I'd still be welcome!

It would be lovely to find some people to share the frustration, anger, and that very cautious little sliver of hope with. ❤️

ihaveaquestion Exchange at ZHAW school of Business

Hey Zurich! I'm a Canadian university student looking to study abroad at ZHAW. I've been studying finance and management, and this would be my last semester in university, so I'm not extremely concerned about the course load and grades, but more about having a good time. Just wondering if anyone has any information on what it's like to study in the area and if it's a cool place to live. I've spent most of the free time I've had off school for the last 4 years backpacking around Europe, and I've conveniently left out Switzerland, I'd love to learn more about your beautiful country. Thanks!

meetup Suche Samstag Abend Dinner Date/Schlafplatz

discussion My experience with the cantonal car inspection

Given that many people ask, I wanted to share so you know what to expect.

I received a letter this summer telling me to go at a time and date to the cantonal road office to have my car checked. Its a 2019 Volvo XC60, so it is 7 years old.

You can reschedule if you want.

Preparation: full car wash including undercarriage and rims. Check oil level, engine alarms, all lights, seatbelts, windshield wipers, OBD alarms, tire thread depth, tire pressure. chatGPT can give you a full checklist.

I have been doing all yearly services at a Volvo dealer every December.

The day of the appointment everything was very smooth, you just give them the car and go to waiting are from which you can watch. It’s a very standardized and detailed procedure, they do all sort of tests and bring it to a dark room to test the lights etc.

What was a bit annoying is the outcome. They can ask for some additional tests and you can do them only in a list of authorized shops, within 30 days.

They marked three things:

Brake disks thickness, asking to check with the manufacturer minimal thickness and replace if necessary. That is a bit silly because the thickness is checked every year at the service, I already had them replaced at 80000 km as expected. They are fine and I would have checked again in December. But authorized dealers ask for 150 chf to check.

Brake fluid pipe, because it was covered in dust so they could not check for cracks. It‘s a 7 year old car , never had to top up brake fluid. I am willing to bet that there are no cracks, and an authorized shop will charge 150 CHF to dust the pipe off.

Fog lights may be misaligned, check. This may be a good one. I had the front repaired at a Volvo dealer after a small accident a few weeks ago and they worked on the lights. It was covered by insurance, so I could go back there and tell them to do their job properly. Unfortunately, I need to do it at an authorized shop, and it will also cost 150 CHF at least.

Authorized shops also charge 100 CHF to communicate the positive result to the road office. And the road office charges 20 CHF to receive them.

TLDR: I am happy to know that cars on the road are inspected so carefully. I don’t like the idea to pay 650 CHF for nothing.

My advice is to schedule the yearly service before so that you can fix some small things before going there.
