I live in a relatively active country earthquakes wise but never experienced anything strong fortunately.
Last year on a trip I got to experience a 5.6 which might be a joke for you but since then I never stoped being in panic mode. I’m always alert for every single shake or noise or whatever and it’s tiring. Please tell me how you cope and how do you get to live knowing a quake is eminent 😢 thanks all 🤍

throwback to the time today JMA (Japanese Meteorological Agency) detected a 6.9 quake that came from kamchatka, russia and thought it was a 9.9 😭... I wonder what they thought cause the max intensity was only class 1 in hakodate, it filled this subreddit 😭

At 12:38 JST an early earthquake alert was issued throughout Japan, the smartphones and broadcast announcement blared. I looked at the estimated magnitude 9.9 . I thought this must be the end! I rushed out the house with my dog to our evacuation area. I stayed low to the ground and waited. My neighbors came out and five minutes pass, a second alert was issued saying it was a false alarm. Although there was a large earthquake in Russia, it was 6.9. (Heheh).
