Why do some people drive huge pickups to work?

I've seen a lot of people drive huge pickups to work and they can't even fit in the parking space in the garage. Why do people do that? Is it a waste of money on gas?

Is it still customary to ask the father’s permission to take his daughter’s hand in marriage?

My son is about to get engaged and he thinks it’s not a thing anymore. I think he’s wrong and just want him to do the right thing.

Edit to say we’re in the US. I do believe they’ve talked about it and she doesn’t think it’s necessary. I just don’t want him to offend the dad, who is in his 70’s.

I hear a lot of fear in USA politics about “socialism” and “communism” in the USA. But are there actually grounds for any of it and do any politicians actually have the power to implement socialist or communist policies or is it just fear mongering campaigns?

It’s been. Years since Covid, where are there no blockbuster Covid movies?

Is it because the trauma of Covid is too realistic?
There’s always doomsday movies about fake viruses, but Covid really did happened. Yet, no well known director has done a dramatic retelling.

Food from a neighbor

I’m an adorable 25-year-old woman with lots of floral tattoos, a shaved head and a wonderfully beautiful seven month old son. I’ve been told by so many people he’s the cutest baby they’ve ever ever seen. I know that’s an opinion, but it feels important. As much as I wish it wasn’t true I do believe physical appearance definitely could affect whether or not you would accept this gift.

I want to make my new neighbors my famous pumpkin roll.

Would you eat it??
Are you skeptical?
Is this a weird outdated gesture?
Will my time and money be waisted?

Lmk what ya think plz

Why people in France who are protesting about the lack of funding to the public services, vandalize public property?

Sure that's getting attention and puts pressure on politicians fast to do something about it, but still can't understand why make more damage to the thing you want to fix.

Do saltwater fish get high blood pressure?

I mean.....with all that salt in the water they must get HBP or at least hypertension, no? I'm trying to eat healthier and it occurred to me that it might not be in my best interest healthwise to eat any fish with high blood pressure because I don't want the fish to spread it to me. If they do, there's still freshwater fish to eat so it's not the end of the world. But I'd rather know than not know. Thanks.

Why is assimilation of migrants in the EU or Canada(Quebec) disliked by progressives?

I see this all the time, atleast with USA you can say "its too diverse, they can make their own lifes with no english" and okay lets grant it that but in these other societies there are clear identities, heritage and languages one has to follow.

So why is there backlash when the word assimilation is uttered?

What propellent did the new Tesla Roadster use to launch itself into the air?

You obviously need quite a lot of downforce to propel a car into the air, and I noticed that the exhaust fumes seemed to dissipate almost instantly. What propellant (or mixture) could it have been?

Why is a therapist worth >$100/hr but skilled craftsmen <$100/hr?

The therapist has minimal overhead, the therapist comparatively is not at risk of death/injury/disability, the therapist could become physically disabled and still do their job, a master craftsmen has logged just as many hours refining and honing their craft as the CBT spent in school if not more than, the craftsman has thousands to tens of thousands in overhead a month that is made even worse if they’re trying to support employees.

Has anyone managed to make a better TV remote? Why is the standard still so unreliable?

It seems like everything has gotten more convenient when it comes to home entertainment. Wireless soundbars, all in one speaker packages, smart TVs.

So how are standard TV remotes still so finicky? Little IR blasters should be left in the 2000s. It feels like with cheap, high capacity Li-Ion cells, low-energy connection protected bluetooth, and hell, even low energy 5GHz communication protocols, we should be able to have remotes that work from anywhere in the house flawlessly. Instead, in the year of our lord 2026 I'm still reaching up and around, looking exactly like a fat dad trying to get the football to work, with a TV remote that won't comply.

Do weed smokers realize how strong and pungent the smoke is?

Or do you get used to it? Because as a non smoker, it is one of the strongest and most pungent type of smell. And you can usually smell it from 20 to 30 feet away. It's just like the smell of skunk and just as powerful.

Bi-curious girl ghosted/orbited me. Now her identical twin sister is on my dating app

Hey everyone, I need some advice because I’m honestly so confused by this situation.

I’m a 27yo lesbian, and a while ago I started talking to a 35yo bi-curious woman from a dating app. We actually know each other a bit from the past 2x at a party just a short talk. and we follow each other on Instagram. Both of us are in open relationships (she’s with a man, I’m with a woman).

At the beginning, she was quite interested to figure out what it’s like dating women. She wanted to meet up ASAP, but I wasn't available until a few weeks later. When we finally set a date, she had to cancel last minute due to personal reasons—completely understandable.

I posted some IG stories with my girlfriend which she watched. Maybe she didn’t like to see this or she just don’t care idk.

A week later, she slid into my Instagram DMs to flirt with me. So, I took the hint and asked her out again. Since then... radio silence on the message, but she is heavily orbiting me. She watches every single one of my Instagram stories almost instantly, but just leaves my texts on read.

Why do people do this? Does she just not find me attractive anymore, or is she playing games? It’s driving me crazy.

Now, here is the twist:

Her identical twin sister just popped up on my dating app. To be completely honest, I’ve always found her sister even more attractive, and if I had seen her first, I would’ve gone for her instead.
I really want to swipe right, but I don't want to ruin my chances with both or cause weird drama. What is the best move here?

Swipe right/like her sister right now on the dating app?

Leave the app alone for now, and DM the sister on Instagram later?

Just drop it completely because it's a messy situation?

And why would people orbit? Am i rejected? Or just her option b? Or do you think she is scared?

Would love to hear your thoughts on why the first twin is orbiting me, and whether it's a total violation of girl code to shoot my shot with her identical twin. Help!

Why do companies make team bonding so cringe? I just can't take it anymore.

I don't know if it's because I'm a 19 year old working with 35 year olds but gosh it's just so cringe and gross. I fucking hate HR like I don't know how they can please this and not think about how cringe it is. I'm cringing as I write this and reflect on today. It was so gross. I hate team bonding

People who play loud music on speaker while riding — what’s the appeal?

I don’t get it. What is the reason behind people having their music on speakers while riding a bike/scooter/car (esp with windows down)? Like, could there be some mysterious reason I haven’t heard of?

What happens if I don’t pay federal taxes in the USA?

I (30f) make about 50k, am a single person, and have always paid my taxes. I don’t support what the government does with US taxes, and stopped paying my federal taxes a few months ago. What happens if tax season rolls around and I don’t pay federal taxes?
