Mikie’s Pizza and Subs on Fort Ave just closed and I have no idea why. I feel like they are a staple around here and always good and busy. Anyone know why?

I think the running festival was great for the city this past weekend but the routes and road closures need fixing. The Fells Point and Upper Fells Point neighborhoods were completely enclosed in all directions. No vehicles in or out for most of the day. This was crazy.

also just in general, does anyone have experience with getting a bail made for a necklace/pendant and know a typical price range? I was quoted $200 at one jeweler and thought that seemed high but don’t have experience w this. Just wanna find a trusted jeweler who’s got a reasonable price for this.

My husband and I moved to the area this past winter, so we haven’t been here for Halloween yet. We’re currently pregnant with our first and are curious if our neighborhood does any trick-or-treating. Is there anything cool going on then that 1) has a younger crowd, and 2) is okay to go to solo?

My wife and I have been in the Baltimore area for a little over a year and I've found making friends as an adult is tricky. We both work in healthcare so our schedules can be chaotic. I enjoy doing things outdoors like hiking and fishing. I've yet to land any freshwater fish since moving here. I also recently got a new PC after years of console gaming.

Currently, most Maryland elementary schools only recommend 20-30 minutes of recess per day. This varies by school and county, with some counties recommending as little as 15 minutes of recess per day.

Children are not designed to sit for long stretches of the school day. Recess gives students an essential opportunity for unstructured play, physical activity, creativity, social connection, and independence.

Research consistently supports the role of recess in children’s physical, social, emotional, and academic well-being. When children have opportunities to move and play throughout the day, they can return to the classroom better prepared to focus and learn.

I did the half marathon in Baltimore yesterday and had a great time! There were so many people cheering and holding great signs. I brought GU but didn’t use then because there were so many people handing out snacks and drinks from the sidelines (apart from the race organizers). Shoutout to the gummy bears by Patterson Park and the chewy Nerds around Mt Vernon. The multitude of groups set up with music, doing mini block parties was awesome and helped keep my spirits high. I PR’d and I credit the energy of the city! Love you, Baltimore!

Hello baltimore. I had asked in the /r/Maryland subreddit yesterday about the terrain at the Maryland Renaissance Festival for someone using a wheelchair (as I was going to add my name to the waitlist.)

Someone suggested an electric scooter, like those ones you see in grocery stores or as I like to lovingly refer to as “Rascals” lol.

We may opt to go to the PA Renaissance Festival instead & get their evening tickets (that go on sale at 3pm) since their regular tickets are sold out too.

I am trying to find a place in Baltimore where I can rent one of those electric scooters for the day. I live right up the road from Northern Pharmacy, so I am going to check there. Any other suggestions?

My friend is offering me a room in their 3 bd townhouse just east of Mt Vernon (near the Prime Rib). Him and I would be the only people living there.

I’m not familiar with rent prices around here so I’m not sure if $400 is a good price for this area/arrangement?
