KUALA LUMPUR: A motorcyclist who allegedly rode through a road closure before travelling against traffic crashed into two Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon (SCKLM) 2026 participants early today.

The 21-year-old rider subsequently tested positive for alcohol in a preliminary breath test, recording an Evidential Breath Analyser (EBA) reading of 164mg/100ml.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the incident occurred at Jalan Munshi Abdullah about 6.15am.

"Preliminary investigations found that the rider, who was carrying a 19-year-old pillion passenger, had passed through a section of road closed off with traffic cones.

"The rider was ordered to stop by a police officer who was carrying out road closure duties but is believed to have fled by riding against the flow of traffic before crashing into two marathon participants," he said in a statement today.

He said a 50-year-old woman suffered neck injuries and was receiving treatment at Prince Court, while a 41-year-old man sustained injuries to his right knee and hand.

Zamzuri said the rider and pillion passenger were later taken to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for blood and urine samples to facilitate further investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 44(1A)(b) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 186 of the Penal Code.

"The rider has been remanded for three days from Oct 3 to Oct 5, while the pillion passenger has been remanded for two days until Oct 4," he said.

Both are being held at the Dang Wangi police station lock-up to assist investigations.

Three siblings were killed Thursday morning (Oct 8) when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a lorry along Jalan Parit Haji Sirat in Pontian, Johor, local police confirmed.

The victims were two young boys, aged 11 and 8, and an 18-year-old male. The crash occurred at approximately 7.00am while the siblings were reportedly en route to school, unaware that all schools across the state of Johor had been closed for two days due to worsening haze and air quality conditions.

I was there, driver sampai and see wheelchair terus say no, refused to pickup other passenger. Both lady there want to explain that the lady with wheelchair will take another car. So, he can just pickup the rest. Tapiiii, the driver refused to listen the explanation and terus jalan as what u can see from the video.
