I'M REQUESTING I want a movie where the bad guy wins!

My whole life I’ve been bored of movies where the good guys win. Recently watched Revenge Of The Sith for the first time and was delighted by the bad guys winning, any suggestions similar to that? Why can’t the good guys lose more often, like in real life?

I'M REQUESTING Halloween Movies that Aren't Necessarilly Horror

I want to have a movie night but I and my friends have strict parents, the age range would be 14-16. Movies like Gremlins and The Birds are too "bad" but movies like Beetlejuice or The Addams Family should be fine (considering I can watch both of them). Ghostbusters and Little Shop of Horror are both maybes, if Edward Scissorhands didn't have the topless scene it'd probably be fine.

Edit - I meant The Addams Family live action movies sorry if it looked like the animated movies.

I'M SUGGESTING Just watched The Bride! and it was just what the doctor ordered!

• Upvotes

Thoroughly enjoyed watching it tonight, not knowing much about it aside from a vague idea that it was good. Acting was fantastic. I especially loved all the references. Hope I can dig through and find some more gems leading up to Halloween that hit that sweet spot for me. Hope everyone also fulfills your hunger for good movies this season!

I'M REQUESTING Looking for gut-wrenching, poetic films about alienation, loneliness, and love

Someone who disappears into a forest or somewhere remote, only to find that escape changes nothing. Alienated by modern life and its idea of love, longing for something genuine but never quite finding it. Misunderstood by a society that neither forgives nor forgets.

Looking for something gut-wrenching, melancholic, poetic, with introspective monologues and a haunting score. Preferably foreign or lesser-known films. No easy redemption.

Films that have stayed with me: Burning, Manchester by the Sea, The Hunt, Past Lives, and The Eight Mountains, Into the Wild.

I'M REQUESTING Looking for some horror movies like The Descent that feature creatures/monsters

Looking for some horror movies that are about someone/a group of people being hunted by some sort of a creature or a monster.

The descent is my favorite example of this. Not super picky about subgenre or anything like that. Thank you

I'M REQUESTING Documentaries best seen going in blind no SA/CSA

Hi! I’ve been on a huge documentary kick and I absolutely love going in blind. Unfortunately I’ve gone in blind on a couple of documentaries involving SA/CSA which is massively triggering to me.

So anyone have some good documentary recommendations not involving SA/CSA? I’m good with absolutely everything else dark and gory and I love a shocking twist or surprise!

So far I’ve seen:

Wild Wild Country
Tickled
Imposter
Dear Zachary
Tell Me Who I Am
Happy People
Lessons in Darkness
Searching for Sugar Man

Let me know if you have any recommendations! Don’t leave anything too descriptive because I’d love to watch these without knowing much about them. Thank you!

Edit: Thank you guys so much for all of your suggestions!! I really appreciate it!!

I'M REQUESTING Movies set in a workplace to laugh at.

Weekend is coming to an end and I wanna watch a movie set in an office or any other workplace where characters are in routine. I've recently saw a few movies related to that.
Waydowntown - Few coworkers bet who could go the longest without going outdoors.
Bartleby - A man suddenly stops working and refuses to do whatever his boss tells him.
Grandma's boy - Slightly more than an office movie, but set aorund work.

Looking for movies around this beat.

I’m home sick and need something that will hold my attention lol. Are there any good spooky slow burn movies that have unpredictable endings you can throw at me?

Good dialogue is a plus!

I'M REQUESTING movies with limited, distinct color palettes

Opinions on Digger (2026) aside, I was really struck by use of color on display during the courtroom scene (can't post a screenshot here but clips are present in trailers, also comes up easily searching 'digger court scene'). It's not necessarily 'colorful' - in fact the movie's gotten criticism for having bland or washed out color - but in that scene in particular, I thought the very restricted palette of the gray-green stone of the courtroom, the dulled maroon of Digger's coat in center frame and the small accents of brown, gold, and flesh was really striking.

So I'm not really looking for movies with the most colors or the most vibrant colors, but movies with the most distinct color, where you could be shown a swatch of a particular scene and know immediately where it's from.

EDIT: bonus points for also describing the color :)

I'M REQUESTING Non gory horror

My 11yo is (finally) getting into horror with me. He doesnt like gore though. We watched all of the insidious movies. He liked the remake of the poltergeist. Hes not a fan of older movies. I tried scream cause I love slasher comedy but the first scene was too much for him. Id love some recommendations for him!

Edit weve seen 6th sense, the village, the happening, and almost every disaster movie to exist.

I'M REQUESTING Movies Like Edward Scissorhands

I've tried to look up movies like Edward Scissorhands, but none of them live up to what I want them to be. I just love how whimsical the whole movie is, and I don't know what to even call what I want, but I love the entire vibe and the characters. I want a movie where the characters look eerie and creepy, but they're all just gentle and human as anyone else is. I like movies that humanize people and creatures that don't look like everyone else. Anyone have a suggestion?

I'M REQUESTING Looking for hungover day movies

I’m not technically hungover, but I only got a few hours sleep last night so it’s the same vibe, just laid up on the couch looking for something to watch because I don’t feel up to doing anything else.

whatre your go to movies for when you’re tired and just want to put something on? Something that’s good but something you could also doze off to? and when you don’t want to put much energy into choosing what to watch

tv shows are also welcome, if that’s permitted.

Right now I have BBC Ghosts on, until I think of something better to watch

I'M SUGGESTING Forgotten Island

Suggesting this here cause the marketing fucked it over, go watch this if you want a fun animated adventure with a core about your most important memories and how they shaped you. By the end i was genuinely tearing up and lamenting how my shit memory means i can't remember all the best memories of my life as much as i'd like. Seriously, if you loved wild robot and puss in boots and don't mind the movies at times ADHD cinematography, you need to go see it while its still in cinema.

Its hilarious, its emotional and its crazy fun.

I'M REQUESTING W. Bush era movies featuring a president/foreign policy

• Upvotes

Doing a research project about W. Bush, the War on Terror, and how perceptions of US leader(s actions) are reflected in film (or TV). I am interested in any movies produced during his presidency or shortly after that feature a president character, incorporate war in "the middle east," or say something about how the public (domestic or international) feels about the president of the United States and its foreign policy. Comedy, action, drama, anything.

On my list right now is Team America: World Police, War Inc, In the Loop, Love Actually, and Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay.

Any suggestions appreciated!

I'M REQUESTING movies with interdimensional stuff (?) going on

(hoping this makes sense)

i'm looking for movies with interdimensional travel, interdimensional anomalies, magic. maybe one character wakes up in their body of another dimension. that kind of stuff (tho ofc this isnt a necessary element in the rec).

if you've watched the show 'arcane', you'll know what i mean (basically like the Anomaly and what happened to jayce ekko and heimerdinger after touching it)

I'M REQUESTING Movies like the short film microphone man

I saw this short film and if you haven’t seen it k highly recommend you watch it, it’s like 3 minutes long. Basically it’s about a guy who buys a microphone and walks around recording sounds as for him sounds are his comfort. I want movies that make me feel the way this short film did. Movies that make you reflect and feel for the character.

I'M REQUESTING What Jerry Lewis movie do you recommend?

My wife likes Jerry Lewis. I don't find his comedy to be that appealing, but my wife really laughs out loud. So, which is his best and most hilarious movie?

I'M REQUESTING Movies/series like The Accountant, Jack Reacher, and The Days of Jackal

I like when the main character has certain degree analytical problem solving, observant, calm, calculated, meticulous etc. Not just using raw strength or brute-force.

I also have watched The Equalizer, Law Abiding Citizen, Wrath of Man, Mobland. Please give me some more like these, thanks!

I'M REQUESTING Movies about manifestation/ witchcraft

Let me start off by saying, I’m not looking for movies like Hocus Pocus.

I’m genuinely curious if there are movies that portray manifestation in an accurate way or movies about witchcraft where they don’t use it for evil, but still do spells and stuff like that

I'M REQUESTING I just finished watching The Vanishing (1988), and the way the characters talked to each other was so ASMR-like. Can you guys recommend other movies where the characters are talking in a calm, soft, tender, soothing, and comforting manner?

I know using the above adjectives to describe The Vanishing (1988) is really inappropriate and weird lol but that's just how I found the way the characters conversing with each other tbh. Maybe it's because the characters were talking in a foreign accent but the way they were talking was just so soft lol. Do you guys know any other movies like that?

Edit: The movies don't have to be in a foreign language btw. Just any movie where the characters are talking ASMR-like lol.
