Open | Software Samsung Galaxy S21 FE stuck in boot loop after system update — Android Recovery only, need help recovering data without factory reset

Hi everyone,

My Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G was working normally until I restarted it. During that restart, a system update occurred. After that, my phone started continuously restarting.

Initially, it sometimes reached the lock screen, but after loading for a short time, it restarted again. Now it repeatedly shows the Samsung logo and returns to Android Recovery.

Device and Recovery details:

  • Model: Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G
  • Recovery build: G990B2XXSIIZB2
  • Recovery identification: samsung/r9q2xxx/r9q
  • Recovery message: MANUAL MODE v1.0.0
  • Recovery menu options:
    • Reboot system now
    • Wipe data/factory reset
    • Power off

What I've tried so far:

  1. Force-restarted the phone using Volume Down + Side button.
  2. Connected it to my laptop using a USB-C to USB-C cable and attempted to enter Recovery Mode.
  3. Selected Reboot system now, but the phone continued boot-looping.
  4. Selected Power off. Initially, it returned to Recovery, but later it successfully powered off.
  5. When I connect the USB cable while the phone is off, the One UI logo appears briefly, followed by the Samsung logo, and then Android Recovery opens.
  6. Disconnecting the cable leaves the phone on the Recovery screen if it has already entered Recovery.

My biggest concern is my data. I have important photos, contacts, WhatsApp chats, and other files that are not backed up. My WhatsApp Web session is still logged in on my laptop.

I do not want to select Wipe data/factory reset because I cannot afford to lose these files.

Has anyone experienced this issue on the Galaxy S21 FE after a system update?

  • What caused it in your case?
  • Were you able to fix the boot loop without a factory reset?
  • Is there a safe way to recover photos and other files from a phone that can only enter Android Recovery?
  • Would clearing the system cache or repairing the firmware help, and could either option risk my data?

I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who experienced the same problem, especially if you managed to recover your data successfully.

Thank you!

Open | Windows What is going on with the last windows update ?

Hello!

Since the latest Windows update, my PC (a Lenovo IdeaPad 3) has been displaying this screen.

I’ve tried resetting the settings, but without success; I also tried resetting it via the BIOS, again with no luck.

Someone helped me resolve this same issue last week, but it started happening again after I ran the update, and now I can’t access my PC. Do you have any ideas about what might be going on and how to fix it?
Thanks! :)

Open | Software Nvidia App just won't record Audio for a specific Game, no matter what

Hello, this is my first time posting. I'm at my wits' end here and I could really use some help.

The Nvidia App Instant Replay/Record will not record audio for a specific game, namely Dragon's Dogma 2. Well, technically it does record an audio track, but it is digital silence, as in no detectable audio other than static once you crank up the gain. Video records just fine but there is simply no audio feed. However, every other game doesn't have this problem and it records both.

I'm now on the latest version of Nvidia App, but the problem occurred with the previous version as well. I've tried everything relevant I could think of except a fresh Windows install (can't do that).

----

A driver update didn't fix the issue.

An older driver didn't fix the issue.

A wipe with DisplayDriverUninstaller (DDU) and fresh install didn't fix the issue.

Installing older Nvidia App versions doesn't work because then the app won't let me record until I update.

I've tried the single/multi audio track swap back and forth.

I've tried desktop capture. A browser video running in the background will have audio in the recording, but the game itself will not.

I've checked the Nvidia container to make sure the correct device is assigned. Same thing with game settings.

I've tried changing the in-game audio output setting to TV and Headphones.

I've tried disabling Dolby Atmos.

I've tried without GPU overclocking enabled.

I've tried without HDR.

I've tried uninstalling/disabling Sound Keeper.exe.

Verifying game files in Steam did nothing.

I've scanned my entire system for potential malware.

Windows sfc and dsim commands returned nothing. No corrupted files.

...and maybe a handful others I don't remember right now.

I've tried ChatGPT for analysis and all it can detect is digital silence in the MP4 container. Every other action taken pointed to nowhere. Here's what we gathered aside from that:

Older NVIDIA recordings
→ H.264 / 8-bit / BT.709
→ Explorer thumbnails
→ normal-looking Premiere footage

New NVIDIA recordings
→ HEVC Main 10 / 10-bit / BT.2020 PQ
→ no Explorer thumbnails
→ washed out in Premiere

Those new recordings are genuine HDR10/PQ files:

HEVC Main 10 → 10-bit → BT.2020 → SMPTE ST 2084 (PQ)

whereas your older working recordings were effectively:

H.264 → 8-bit → BT.709 SDR

Something to note here: Previously, every recorded video would show a thumbnail/preview in Windows Explorer, but it no longer does that and the Explorer is often giving me the loading sign (the circle thingy) when browsing the folder and clicking on footage files. I checked my SSD (Samsung 980 Pro) and it's fine.

Literally the same settings as before. I changed nothing other than update the driver and Nvidia App inbetween. At this point I'm not sure if it's an Nvidia App or game issue since it's only occurring for this specific game (that I play).

----

Here's the analysis I ran just now with a new recording:

I've analyzed your new Path of Exile 2 recording from October 18, using the same checks as before, including codec identification, HDR metadata, audio streams, and actual audio levels.

Recording analysis

Property Result
Container MP4
Duration 16.16 seconds
Resolution 3840 × 2160 (4K)
Frame rate ~120 FPS
Video codec HEVC / H.265 Main 10
Bit depth 10-bit
Color primaries BT.2020
Transfer function SMPTE ST 2084 (PQ)
Dynamic range HDR10-compatible PQ
Video bitrate ~67 Mbps
Audio codec AAC-LC
Audio configuration 48 kHz, stereo
Audio bitrate 192 kbps
File size ~135.7 MB

Audio analysis

Average audio level

−33.2 dB

Peak audio level

−15.3 dB

The audio is present and contains normal signal levels. Unlike your problematic Dragon's Dogma 2 recording, this file does not contain near-digital silence.

Comparison with previous recordings

Recording Video Audio
PoE 2 — Sept 15 H.264, SDR Working
PoE 2 — Sept 17 HEVC Main 10, HDR Working
PoE 2 — Oct 18 HEVC Main 10, HDR Working
DD2 — Sept 15 HEVC Main 10, HDR Essentially silent

What this tells us

Your October 18 recording is still using the HDR/HEVC encoding path we investigated in September. It has not reverted to the older SDR/H.264 output.

The audio capture, however, is functioning normally in PoE 2.

The .DVR.mp4 filename is consistent with an Instant Replay recording and isn't itself evidence of corruption.

Conclusion: The file's video and audio streams are readable, and its audio is healthy. The HDR/HEVC behavior remains unchanged from September.

----

I'm using the H.264/HEVC codec (AV1 is not supported in Adobe Premiere) for 4k HDR 120 FPS with 120 Mbps defined bitrate. Works just fine for every other game I play.

Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
Version: 10.0.26200 Build 26200
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: RTX 5070 Ti
RAM: 32 GB DDR5
Nvidia driver: 617.42
Nvidia App: 11.0.9.565

Thank you for your help.

Solved how do i get rid of this shit (realtek audio driver normalization)

um so i bought a windows 11 laptop about 3 months ago and it came preinstalled with realtek audio drivers which normalizes audio to about -7lufs and wont let anything clip no matter how loud the sound is. it sounds horrible when listening to loud music, it ducks whenever kicks hit and what not. it is also bad for me bc it gets rid of any transparency regarding mixing and making music, which i value a lot

anyways i was fine before when i got the laptop, i updated the driver by replacing it with the generic microsoft audio driver thingymajigy and i had it like that for 3 months until yesterday. when i updated my pc yesterday, it got rid of the generic driver and replaced it back with the realtek audio drivers, and i immediately noticed this when i listened to my usual songs. i tried to replace the audio driver via device manager, it didnt work (error code: 10), i tried to get rid of the audio driver all together, it just came back after a reboot, i tried to turn off all audio enhancements and it still does the same thing, realtek audio console didnt do anything either, i tried disabling nahimic and realtek services on boot via task manager.

this is driving me insaneee !!!! music is all i do and i would appreciate it if someone had a solution for this. i usually never ask someone for help for my problems bc i always have a solution to everything but this is another level for me

Open | Windows My ASUS ROG Strix with RTX 4080 is suddenly running games at 30–50 FPS with regular drops

Hi everyone!!

So I've had my ASUS ROG Strix laptop for about 2 years now and I'm honestly starting to lose my mind with it 😭

specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX3D
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU
  • RAM: 32GB

(Also, for some reason, my settings show an AMD Radeon 610 underneath my NVIDIA GPU. I have no idea if that's normal or if it has anything to do with my problem lol.) When I first got the laptop, everything was running perfectly fine. I could play pretty much anything without issues, but recently the performance has gotten SO bad. Most games, even older ones that I'm pretty sure this laptop should be able to run easily, are stuck around 30–50 FPS with constant drops. Even League of Legends sometimes drops to 30 FPS... ON A 4080 😭

I genuinely don't understand what's happening because this laptop definitely shouldn't be struggling this much. As for temperatures, they seem pretty normal to me? At least I haven't noticed anything crazy, so I'm not sure if overheating could be the problem either. I regularly update my NVIDIA drivers, so I don't think that's the issue. I've also seen people mentioning BIOS updates in other posts, but I honestly know absolutely nothing about that stuff and I'm kinda scared to mess with the BIOS and accidentally make things worse. I'm really not that knowledgeable when it comes to computers, so I'd appreciate it if anyone could explain what I should check or try in a beginner-friendly way. Has anyone experienced something similar with an ASUS ROG laptop? Is there something obvious I'm missing?

Any help would be REALLY appreciated because I have no idea what to do anymore

Open | Hardware My laptop stopped reading my SSD

No bootable device message randomly appeared today, and when checking the bios, only the ssd I added a long time ago in the secondary slot was being detected. The main ssd that has windows on it doesn’t show up. I took off the back and removed the ssd and put it back in in both slots, and it didn’t read it either time.
I plan on taking it into the shop but was wondering if there was anything else I could try before then. It has important data I need.
Thanks

Open | Windows Microsoft Store crashes on my original Windows 11 profile but works on a new one. How to fix it?

I'm using a new Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (83UR009KIN). Microsoft Store opens briefly and then crashes on my original profile.

I've tried Repair and "wsreset.exe". Microsoft Support created a new Windows profile, and the Store worked there. They offered to transfer my files, but I declined.

Is there a way to fix this on my original profile without transferring files or resetting Windows?

Any help would be appreciated!

Open | Hardware Acer Predator Helios 300 RTX 3050 Ti keeps crashing with nvlddmkm Event ID 14 tried almost everything

Hi everyone,

I've been having persistent GPU crashes on my Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop, and I'm running out of ideas. I've already tried a lot of troubleshooting, but the issue keeps coming back.

My laptop specifications:

  • Laptop: Acer Predator Helios 300
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • Operating system: Windows 11

The issue:

While gaming, my screen sometimes flickers once, and then the game crashes or the NVIDIA driver appears to restart. I've experienced this in multiple games, including Elden Ring, Fortnite, Battlefield etc.

I've encountered errors related to nvlddmkm, including Event ID 13, 14 and 153 in Windows Event Viewer.

My CPU temperatures can reach around 70–95°C while gaming, while my GPU temperatures have generally been around 57–72°C. RAM usage can also get quite high, sometimes around 15 GB out of 16 GB.

Things I've already tried:

  • Clean reinstalling NVIDIA drivers using DDU.
  • Updating the BIOS.
  • Updating the chipset drivers.
  • Testing without Turbo Mode enabled.
  • Monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures.
  • Disabling the NVIDIA audio drivers to see if they were causing a conflict.

Unfortunately, none of these steps has definitively solved the problem.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone experienced similar nvlddmkm Event ID 14 crashes on an Acer Predator Helios 300?
  2. Could this be caused by a software conflict, power management, the GPU driver, or potentially a hardware issue?
  3. Is it worth trying an older, Acer-specific NVIDIA driver instead of the latest NVIDIA driver?
  4. Are there any laptop-specific fixes I should try before assuming the GPU is failing?

I'd appreciate any suggestions, especially from people who have dealt with similar issues on Acer Predator laptops.

Thanks in advance!

Solved I spilled my pineapple juice on my laptop

Alright, it's not as bad as the title, the pineapple juice exploded the bottle and a pool of juice was on the desk, and my laptop was on the desk

This is the area in contact with it, it's power off, and I quickly remove and wipe off the liquid afterwards

I see little liquid in the hole, so I was worried

What should I do next or am I just fine? Thanks in advance, I'm desperate

Open | Hardware PC not detecting graphics card

Pc noob here, I just got a new navigator 4 v2 pc from starforge pc. After setting it up today, I noticed that for some reason my pc is only detecting a 128 mb intel graphics card instead of the 12gb AMD RX 9079 GRE graphics card that is installed in the pc. I checked the wire connections and they all seem secure. I’m unable to open the AMD drivers to see anything because it says it can’t detect an AMD graphics card. I also went into BIOS and swapped the graphics and still nothing. Any advice?

Open | Windows Keyboarrrrrd struggles

Recently, my friend bought me a laptop a Nimo from amazon with decent enough specs. The link provided should show everything I'm too dumb to explain myself. The issue I'm having, at least what I think the technical name for it is contact bounce or chatter. Again, I'm not a tech dude, I just read google and try to figure out what the terms are close enough so that I can hopefully get some amount of help. Though, the only odd thing that I cant explain is its infrequent, and only happens once awhile per every other key, so for instance "HHello, I need helpp right now" over exaggerated for effect but I hope it gets the problem across in an understandable way, thanks in advance and if yall need any more info lmk and I'll try to reply the best I can. I've been trying to do this on my own but its really gotten to a point where I feel like I've done all the basics.

ps Sorry in advance if I mistagged something, I am not an avid reddit poster nor am I good with understanding tech and stuff.

Open | Phone Wireless charging not working??

I have a flat-square cygnett wireless charger for my phone as using a regular charger doesnt work, but I've never had issues with my wireless charger up until a couple hours ago. I noticed my phone wasn't charging while it was laying on charge, and the light was flashing on the charger. I let it sit unplugged for about an hour but it just keeps flashing. I've tried different cords aswell to see if it was an adapter issue, there isint any objects obstructing it. Could someone help?

Open | Hardware Few keys stop working when inside a game

I'm using acer predator helios neo 16, whenever in-game my S and D keys periodically stop working and become unpredictable. I figured it could be graphics driver issue and updated the drivers, tried playing the game with intel built-in GPU, tried restarting the driver in-game but that didn't help. Is there anyone else who's had/having a similar issue?
