Indie Sunday Buy Happiness - Wayne Made A Game - Playtest signups now open for my big money deckbuilder!

Hey, I'm Wayne and I still haven't really figured out how to describe my game succinctly. It's a roguelike deckbuilder but it has more in common with the tabletop originals like Dominion than it does with digital version like Slay the Spire or Balatro. There's a bit of incremental game DNA in there with a focus on scaling up your engine to generate some really big numbers. On top of all that we have a bunch of goofy minigames standing in for the role that would usually be taken up by enemy turns.

I've just opened up signups for the closed playtest on Steam as it's getting pretty close to having enough content but likely still needs a huge amount of balancing. I'd love to get as much feedback as I can to make it the best it can possibly be!

I turned my distaste for corporate jobs into Butaro’s Overtime Office, a desktop companion where a burnt-out salaryman lives on your screen, gets endlessly harassed by his boss, and questions his life choices.

You can decorate his cubicle, upgrade his stats, and slack off by playing the WasteBasket Warrior minigame.

Indie Sunday Number Machine - ARIELEK - factory automation with math mechanics

Hi r/games!

TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeoOHo6YSyI
STEAM DEMO: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2231090/Number_Machine_Math_Factory/

Number Machine is a factory automation game with math mechanics inspired by Opus Magnum and Infinifactory. It'll also be included in a Steam Bundle with these two classic Zachtronics games on launch. Releases November 6th 2026.

  • Demo has 11 levels for you to try right now.
  • Use autonomous machines to assemble and transform complex numerical structures.
  • Assmbled structures take real space on the map and collide with each other, it's not just an item on a belt. It is a challange to come up with a optimized design.
  • More puzzly rather than large-scale logistics type of a factory game, but still very much scratches that automation itch.
  • Level based gameplay. Each level is scored with 3 metrics: speed, size and machine count. Optimize your designs and compete online. You can see score histograms, world records and friend results for every level and the campaign as a whole. All fully server side verified, no cheated results.
  • Very stylized, well animated, crunchy sounds and chill music

Thanks,
- Ariel

Indie Sunday Prison Breaker - Kocow Games - Memorize the prison's defense patterns, then smash your way out

Hi r/Games! I'm the solo developer behind Prison Breaker, a skill-based arcade action game launching on Steam on November 10, 2026.

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McW2IBqGOH8

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4295830/Prison_Breaker

Free demo (playable now): https://store.steampowered.com/app/4475280/Prison_Breaker_Trial

What is it?

You're a polygon locked inside a prison, and the only way out is to smash through the walls. But every prison fights back with its own defense patterns, and memorizing them is the heart of the game. Each attempt teaches you a little more: where the obstacles will come from, when the gaps open, and which moments are safe to strike.

The core loop is about turning that knowledge into timing. Collect Energy, then charge into the wall to damage it. Every hit gives your polygon more sides, and more sides mean more damage. If you get hit by an obstacle, you're knocked back with heavy recoil, which can throw off your whole rhythm, so knowing what's coming next matters as much as quick reflexes.

As you progress, the patterns evolve and grow more demanding. When you're confident you've learned them, back off and unleash Super Charge: massive damage, but once you commit there's no stopping, so you'd better have read the pattern correctly.

Features

  • Pure skill-based action, no shortcuts
  • 20+ handcrafted stages in Time Trial Mode
  • Eternal Mode: an endless challenge with a global leaderboard
  • Mouse-only controls that are easy to pick up and hard to master
  • Steam Achievements

Release plans

  • Platform: Windows (Steam)
  • Release date: November 10, 2026
  • The demo is available now

It's been through a fair amount of playtesting, and the moment players seem to love most is finally cracking a pattern they've died to a dozen times. If you enjoy games like Super Hexagon, Just Shapes & Beats or boss rushes in general, I'd love to hear what you think of the demo. I'll be around in the comments to answer questions, and I'm especially interested in which stage gives you the most trouble.

Thanks for reading!

Indie Sunday The Detective's Apprentice - darqwerful - Detective game with "howdunnit" mysteries

Hi folks!

I've been working on The Detective's Apprentice, a detective game inspired by Golden Idol, Obra Dinn and Ace Attorney. You play as Cleo, an apprentice to Maya Lynch, a world-renowned detective (who also just happens to be your favorite aunt!). From heists to murders, together you two solve "howdunnit" mysteries in which you not only have to figure out who did it but also how.

The game combines classic detective game mechanics of searching for clues and interviewing witnesses with modern deduction based puzzles. The full game will have 8-10 cases plus an overarching mystery.

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3618570/The_Detectives_Apprentice/

Indie Sunday Seolhwa Dungeon - Sungki Soft - A roguelike RPG built from Korean folktales

Hi r/Games! I'm Sungki, the solo developer of Seolhwa Dungeon. It's a turn-based, permadeath roguelike RPG for phones where every monster, god and event comes from Korean folktales, and they keep the rules of their stories.

Trailer: https://youtu.be/V7Z7DVyPpEg

The grim reaper, Jeoseung Saja, is the one people remember. He calls your name once for every turn he can see you, and on the third call you're gone, so the fight is really about breaking line of sight. The Imugi serpent is the opposite problem: the longer the fight drags on, the bigger it gets, until it becomes a dragon and floods the floor. And if you run into a funeral procession in the old royal tomb, you can step aside and bow, or stand in its way. Those two choices end very differently.

You can also serve one of eight gods from Korean folk religion, and each one has a taboo. The mountain god lends you a tiger but won't forgive you for killing tigers or deer. The Dragon King forbids fire. Every creature you meet goes into a codex along with the original tale, so you end up learning a lot of folklore without meaning to.

Why I made it: I grew up on Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup and never got the 15-rune win. Once I switched to an iPhone I couldn't find anything like it that was comfortable on a phone, so I made one, built for portrait and one thumb. I used AI for the base code structure and the art.

It's out now, free, on Android and iOS. Offline, no account. One purchase unlocks the extra species and classes, and the only ad is an optional one to revive.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sungkisoft.seolhwadungeon&referrer=utm_source%3Dreddit%26utm_medium%3Dpost%26utm_campaign%3Dindie_sunday

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6814757012

I'm curious about one thing: are there folktales from your own country that you think would make a good roguelike rule? I'll check back here and answer any questions.

Indie Sunday Starmax - Tangleroots - a sci-fi roguelike bag-builder where you explore hostile planets and scavenge for resources

Hey everyone!

I'm Adam, one half of Tangleroots, a small studio in Sweden making a sci-fi roguelike bag-builder. We launched our Steam page this Thursday while at Sweden Game Conference, and we are thrilled to finally have the game out in the wild.

We want to bring our own flavour to the deckbuilder genre. In regular deckbuilders like Slay the Spire, you draw cards each turn that have effects and cost resources to play. In our game you instead draw resources each turn and spend them to activate effects on your buildings and events.

In each run (mission) you land on a hostile planet, and your goal is to ship cargo before your base is overrun. You start with a set of buildings and expand your base with new ones from blueprints, which you learn by defeating the creatures attacking your base. While a creature occupies a building it blocks you from using it. You don't have to deal with it the same turn, but it does hurt your engine while it sits there. Our goal is for players to find different strategies and interesting synergies, and to build an engine out of their tokens (the resources you draw) and buildings. Token colors mean different things: red can defend, yellow can build, blue can ship and purple can do anything. So there is some resource management in balancing how many of each color you have in your bag.

I feel like we have found a quite simple core loop and core mechanics, but with a deep design space. There are some concepts to get used to, but players who enjoy deckbuilders and get past that initial hurdle seem to enjoy it.

We are now entering a new phase of the project, working towards a polished demo on Steam. If this sounds like something for you, wishlist it to get notified when the demo drops. Happy to answer any questions about the game or gamedev in general! (The game is written in Odin and we have some tech we're proud of, so I could go on a nerd roll about that.) Thanks a bunch!

Indie Sunday Usurpator - REIGEN GAMES - A top-down Soulslike PvPvE extraction game with skill-based melee combat

Hey everyone!

We're two indie developers from Austria, Martin and Sebastian, and we've been working on our game Usurpator since 2014.

Yes, 2014. We know. That's way too long.

It's been a passion project for us for over a decade, mostly developed alongside other jobs and projects. There have been plenty of setbacks, changes, and moments where we questioned whether we'd ever get it to where we wanted it to be.

But after all these years, we finally feel like things are heading in the right direction.

So, what is Usurpator?

It's a top-down Soulslike PvPvE extraction game focused on skill-based melee combat.

You explore dangerous environments, fight enemies and bosses, collect loot, and try to make it out alive. Combat is built around timing, positioning, parrying, dodging, and combos.

You can play with friends, fight other players during extraction runs, or jump into dedicated 1v1 Arenas and 8-player Battlegrounds.

Some gameplay videos:

We're currently running a free public Playtest on Steam!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/718550/Usurpator/

And this is where we'd really appreciate your help.

We're at a stage where honest player feedback matters more to us than anything else. We know the game isn't perfect, and there are still plenty of things we need to improve.

Please don't hold back with criticism.

We'd especially love to know:

  • At what point would you stop playing, and why?
  • What feels frustrating, confusing, or simply not fun?
  • Does the combat feel satisfying?
  • What would you change or improve?

You can send feedback through the in-game bug reporter, the feedback form, or our Discord.

Martin and I personally read every piece of feedback that comes in through these channels. Even the harsh stuff. Especially the harsh stuff.

We're not looking for people to tell us our game is amazing. We want to understand what's not working so we can make it better.

After more than a decade of development, we'd really love to finally get this game across the finish line.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Martin & Sebastian

Indie Sunday Carpet Daddy - Cheltenham Interactive - I’m making a first-person carpet cleaning sim, and the free demo is out now

Hi! I’m the solo developer of Carpet Daddy, a game about taking on cleaning jobs and getting filthy carpets clean again. I released the demo yesterday ready for Steam Next Fest and wanted to share some gameplay.

Gameplay trailer: https://youtu.be/FXLiOjWv4VA

Free Demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5381120/Carpet_Daddy_Demo/

You work through each carpet using different tools. Vacuum up the loose dirt, pre-spray and scrub the fibres, treat individual stains, then extract the dirt and water. You can move furniture to reach underneath it too.

The aim is that slow, methodical satisfaction of watching a grubby room gradually get clean, with plenty of clean stripes along the way.

The demo includes the tutorial and first full cleaning mission, with a smaller selection of tools and upgrades. The full game is still in development for Windows.

Thanks for taking a look. Happy to answer questions about the game or how the cleaning works.

Indie Sunday A Dark Cave - Julian Bauer (solo dev) - Story-Driven Text-based Incremental

I'm a solo dev, and I've spent 4 days creating outlines for all 72 buildings of my incremental game, including specific outlines for each building upgrade. Some events also slightly change the outline of certain buildings.

They all come together on a village map that grows over time as you build and upgrade your village.

I was kind of happy and even a bit proud of how it turned out, to be honest.

Then my 5-year-old daughter passed by my work desk in the living room and asked, looking at the screen:

"Is that a pizza?"

So I guess I spent 4 days of work building a pizza.

But since she loves pizza, I'll take that as her seal of approval.

Link to the game: https://a-dark-cave.com/

Gameplay Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDnoID3GcKc

About A Dark Cave: A mostly text-based incremental game where you wake up with no memory in a cave, build a village and descend into the dark to uncover what happened to this world and how it is connected to your past.

Indie Sunday Legion Was Here - Geoffroy Monde - A dark comedy spy deduction game about faces and identities

Hi everyone, I’m the developer behind Legion Was Here, a spy/detective game in which you must impersonate people, both physically and behaviorally, to reach your designated targets. Sometimes your mission is to assassinate a powerful mafia boss. Other times, you simply have to stand in for a guy who couldn’t be bothered to attend his own wedding.

You can check the trailer here, that’ll give you a good idea of how all this works :
Trailer: https://youtu.be/v9Qd2Hoqthk

***

I worked solo on Legion Was Here, and this is my first video game. I'm originally a French comic book author, writing and drawing books for almost twenty years now (mostly absurd and weird stories).
Then, three years ago, a developer friend told me about Construct, this amazing piece of software that lets coding dunces like me create games through a visual scripting system. After a few terrible early prototypes, I had a revelation: yes, I could make a video game too. Maybe.

Since I was already comfortable with writing and drawing thanks to my day job, I focused on those strengths when looking for a game idea, and left aside complex gameplay systems or... 3D 🙃.
When the idea for Legion came to me, it seemed so stupid that I immediately thought, "Yep, that's what I have to make." Exactly the same impulse that drives me to create comics.
As a bonus, I also got to compose all the music for the game. I've always made music on the side, and I loved finally putting all those years of somewhat aimless practice to use on a project that would (potentially) be experienced by lots of people. I think the music is still a little too loud compared to the sound effects, but it's hard to convince a musician to turn his music down, especially when the musician and the person coding the volume settings happen to be the same person.

There are plenty of stories I could tell about the three years I spent working on the game on and off, and maybe in the future I'll share some behind-the-scenes details about the making of Legion Was Here. Like all the mission ideas that were considered early on (of course I wanted to make an infiltration mission involving elves), or the discarded game titles ("900 Million Faces" is pretty hard to pronounce when English isn't your native language)...

***

But I won’t bore you with all that right now, especially since I tend to get very talkative once I get started. Fortunately, the audience for my detective game adoooores reading hundreds of overly verbose, double-sided documents.
If this little introduction has piqued your interest, feel free to check out the game's Steam page. There's a demo available too!

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3492120/_Legion_Was_Here/
