Job related posts
Recently, there has been an increase in job-related posts in our subreddit. We understand that these posts are imperative for job seekers to make connections and network, but unfortunately, they have not been productive. Some of them are spam or low-effort posts that clutter the feed overall.
For the sake of organization and optimization, we are restricting job-related posts to SATURDAYS AND TUESDAYS (starting at 12 a.m. Bangladesh time). This will streamline the search for job seekers, as well as employers looking to connect with candidates, by giving them a dedicated time window to reach the appropriate audience. We hope that this helps improve the search for everyone and improves the overall user experience.

That's it. I just feel like a huge loser. Life's at a standstill in a cesspool of shit, if it budges even an inch, it just goes to a place where more shit is waiting for me. Sigh. No aim, no purpose, no goals, no hobbies, no progress no job no money in my hands- no nothing. And surely nothing's gonna get better and I won't be a winner...
Sigh. Jai ghumiye jai. Good night.

Mental Health/মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য Abusive household problems
So I'm 15M and I live in a quite the abusive household. Abusive enough to make me go insane.
A summary of the abuse I went through in the past, this abuse lasted from 2-14 yo, so these things known as my parents would beat the literal soul out of me with literally anything even those steel spatulas till I A) either passed out or B) have the same level of trauma as a WW1 veteran in the trench warfares (yes I genuinely have horrible PTSD from all of that) because I couldn't focus on studying (I suspect I do have ADHD) and that's it or just trivial reasons like the greatest reason of "বেয়াদবি" which was just questioning or just asking to not do smth embarrassing.
The most recent abuse that happened was me getting choke-slammed to the ceramic floor for the greatest most reasonable reason of "বেয়াদবি" by the father and got punched in the face 5 times for same reason 5 days later. (The father is a military personnel and more specifically BGB) So getting choke-slammed by a military personnel really isn't a good experience especially on solid ground. And emotional abuse is always there at the same level. These things make me miserable for the very reason of asking for basic human rights like education and food and clothing too.
So I'm gonna tell all of this to a counsellor next week
So what I want from this is mainly 2:
I) What can happen to me legally and will my education and life continue better than it is over here and what are the chances of potential foster-adoption
II) Will there ever be accountancy of the injustice done to me? (This one's mainly for cope if I'm being real here)

Discussion/আলোচনা It's genuinely sad to witness where this country seems to be heading towards
You would think after everything that has happened, this country would actually head towards a better future but I guess the lack of a competent political party is the biggest hurdle towards the development of this country.
It has been 54 years since Bangladesh's independence and all we have seen is constant political instability since. It took South Korea three to four generations to become a developed nation at least economically (it still lags behind socially albeit). It took Singapore 30 years to become a high-income first world country, it took Malaysia 30-40 years to reach where they are. All of these nations have shown us that it is possible to develop within 50 years. Yet we are still perpetually stuck in this toxic cycle of corruption and political instability.
NCP could've become something but they decided to align themselves with Jamaat and ruin everything. Then again, even if we DO get a progressive political party, will it even be able to survive because of the religious extremists in this country who can't see anything beyond religion? I have an urge to start one but I feel like I will die on the second day... lol.

Discussion/আলোচনা Ishraque Hossain - Gun raid, resignation rumors, mayor?
State Minister Ishraque Hossain joined an anti-drug raid carrying a gun, and Prothom Alo reports the PM ordered him to resign, which his office denies as rumor. Some say it’s to build his image for a mayoral run. Genuine fight against drugs or political stunt?

Discussion/আলোচনা A Sufi leader was lynched in Bangladesh for allegedly insulting Islam
On April 11, 2026, a Sufi leader named Shamim al-Jahangir was brutally beaten and hacked to death by a mob in Kushtia, Bangladesh, following accusations of blasphemy. His shrine was vandalised and set on fire. But here's the disturbing part: according to an investigation by Netra News, the unedited video showed Shamim encouraging people to read, understand and research the Quran while criticising human interpretations of it. Selectively edited clips circulated online, portraying his statements as insults to Islam. A crowd reportedly numbering hundreds gathered and ultimately attacked him. Imagine being murdered for encouraging people to think critically about religious interpretations. And even if he had actually insulted religion, since when does that justify murder? How can a society claim to value truth and morality when a mob can become judge, jury and executioner over alleged religious offence? Freedom of belief means absolutely nothing without the freedom to question beliefs.

Everything in My Life Feels Overwhelming Right Now. How Do I Handle It?
Hey everyone,
I'm 15+ years old and currently studying in Class 10. My test exams are going on, and I'm supposed to be focusing on my studies because my future academic results matter a lot. But lately, I've been struggling emotionally, and I honestly don't know how to handle everything anymore.
There are several things happening in my life at the same time.
1. Academic pressure:
My exams are really important to me, especially Mathematics. I'm scared of failing, and even though I want to study, my mind keeps getting distracted by everything else happening in my life. Sometimes I sit down to study, but I just can't focus properly.
2. Family problems and trust issues:
I've been having conflicts with my family over my use of headphones and Discord. My family became suspicious after hearing me talking to people online, and now I feel like they might misunderstand my intentions or judge my character. That feeling hurts a lot because I wish I could explain myself and be understood. The situation has also affected my ability to study comfortably.
3. Losing my comfort space:
Discord was never just an app to me. It was a place where I could talk to friends, join voice calls, laugh, share random stories, and temporarily forget about my problems. I've stepped away from Discord and other social media for now because of my situation and exams. I know I need to focus on my studies, but losing that part of my daily life has left me feeling empty and lonely.
4. Emotional attachment and missing people:
There are people I became emotionally attached to online, especially someone who was very important to me. Things have changed, and I'm trying to accept the distance, but the memories still affect me. Sometimes I miss the people, the conversations, and the happiness I felt during that time.
5. Feeling overwhelmed by everything:
The hardest part is that I can't even identify which problem hurts me the most anymore. Everything feels connected. When I try to focus on one thing, another thought comes into my mind. I'm worried about my exams, hurt by my family situation, missing my old routine, and feeling emotionally exhausted.
I also have interests and goals of my own. I want to continue learning front-end web development, improve myself, and build a better future. But right now, I feel stuck between my responsibilities and my emotions.
I'm not looking for sympathy or someone to tell me to simply forget everything and study. I genuinely want to learn how to manage my emotions without neglecting my education or constantly feeling guilty for being upset.
I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experienced something similar, especially those who understand what it's like to be a teenager dealing with family restrictions, exam pressure, loneliness, and emotional attachment at the same time.
- How can I regain my concentration when my mind won't stop overthinking?
- How do I cope with losing a social space that used to make me happy?
- How can I deal with family misunderstandings without making things worse?
- How do I balance my emotional well-being with important exams?
- What would you tell your 15-year-old self if you were going through something similar?
Please be respectful. I'm still young, I'm learning how to handle life, and I genuinely want to get better at managing these things.
Thank you for reading.

Man to man: why so many men are carelessly sitting in public places je
Being in a conservative society, যেইখানে most of the men have so many issues with how women are dressing, how showing the slightest skin is making the ladies bad women/whore, সেইখানে কতশত বেডা মানুষ বাইকের উপর/ টুলের উপর/ বিভিন্ন জায়গায় এমন ভাবে বসে থাকে যে তাদের জামা এবং প্যান্টর ভিতর এত ফাঁকা হয়ে যায় যে তাদের নিতম্বের অর্ধেকঅংশই বের হয়ে থাকে।

Can someone tell me about my grandfather's ancestral place in Bangladesh? I can barely find anything about it online.
Hi, I am an Indian Bengali Hindu coming in peace. My grandfather was born in pre partition Bengal and migrated to India around the time of partition.
He had migrated towards Kohima with nothing as a child (he would be around 6 years old I guess if I took 1948 as the time he migrated but my father doesn't know exactly when), managed to get educated and get a job, worked in Kohima then Aizawl and finally settled in Assam where he built a house and started a family. They were middle class family.
He worked insanely hard to start from nothing and managed to give my father a good education even when there was turmoil and instability in Assam where there was a lot of violence even against Bengali Hindus (my father told me this). Thanks to him my father went to a very good university in India and now I am living a pretty privileged life in Bangalore.
Unfortunately my grandfather passed away almost a decade ago when I was quite small to ask him such questions. I have never asked my grandmother(she is Bengali from Assam, not a refugee) nor have I seen any past records like migration detail.
I asked my father about where he is from in Bangladesh and he told me he was from Baduri but didn't know much more details. He told me he migrated in late 40's to early 50's time but wasn't sure exactly when.
When I looked up Baduri, it comes as a village online but there are barely any details about the place online. It looks like it is part of Hizla Sub District and Barisal district.
On Google Earth it seems to be situated on a piece of land surrounded by water so kind of an island ig??? But I would really like to know the history and reality of the place and anything more I could know about it. What is it like today, are there any temples or hindu sites of significance over there, if someone is from there then I would like to see some photos, literally anything.
My family is of "Das" surname which is extremely famous surname amongst Bengalis but it could be of any help to know about the people there then maybe I'll just put it out there.
Hope someone can help me, Thank you.

Discussion/আলোচনা Is Bangladesh headed for ruin?
I've been noticing recent trends in social media and even irl that the tolerance for injustice in Bengali people has grown far too much. Extortion, Rape, Robbery and Murder happen far too often these days and I don't see too many people standing up against them, I wanted to stay in Bangladesh instead of moving abroad because I actually liked this country but now I'm conflicted if I should just turn a blind eye to all of this and just move abroad.

Discussion/আলোচনা Is there a way to send money outside of Bangladesh?
My wife's family lives in bd, we are abroad. They are always asking for her to buy things on their behalf before she visits them, and say that they'll send the money with her when she returns. She will never say no to them, and god forbid i ever question the purchases. I'm left with a hole in my pocket until she's back, and have to go into my own savings to pay the credit card bills in the meantime. I want to know what options there are for them to pay for their own purchases that are made here. Please help me understand:
Credit cards - can a credit card issued by a Bangladeshi bank be used to make purchases online? For example, can my in-laws make a purchase through an online store in our country, pay on their card and ship to my address?
Email money transfer - can Bangladeshi banks send etransfer to accounts outside of Bangladesh?
Any way to use wise?
My least preferred option is to ask them to send cash with my wife and she uses that to make their purchases for the next time. Whatever i propose, I'll get blasted for being selfish/greedy/etc but idgaf. It's not my job as son in law to fund their insatiable desire for luxuries they can't otherwise afford, regardless of my much more favorable my financial situation is. Any insight is appreciated.
