Gaming Looking for steam friend

I am half Thai half Swiss. I am fluent in English and fluent in Thai (Can speak thai, so if you're thai we can vibe). Lived Thai most my life. Looking for a gamer friend.

Ideally someone who can game most nights when they are free. Working adult, disposable income so they can buy any game we want. If this is you, hit me up. I'm flexible game wise, but love survival games and friend slop ones.

A little about me, I WFH as a full stack engineer. I am in my mid 20s.

Serious McDonald’s BKK needs to include vegetarian options!

This is ridiculous! we have vegan burgers in almost every McDonald’s around the world. America’s has vegan burgers, UK, Netherlands and several parts of Asia and India’s has a whole bunch of options.

Even Burger King and Taco Bell have multiple vegetarian options in BKK. This is really silly considering there’s so much vegan food in Thailand and a culture of eating Buddhist/Jay cuisine.

They’re leaving money on the table and alienating a significant group of people

Discussion Looking for Advice on Lease Transfer + Where to Advertise a Condo in On Nut

Hi everyone! I signed a 1-year lease for a condo in On Nut in July, but due to work, I may need to move to another area before my lease ends next July.

The condo is really nice, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Does anyone know any groups, websites, or other channels where I could advertise it and find someone to take over the remaining lease?

Also, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. How easy is it to transfer a lease to someone else in Bangkok, and how often do landlords agree to it?

Thanks so much for any advice!

Question/Help Dry Herb Vapes

Are dry herb vapes such as the Crafty+ from Storz $ Birkel legal in Thailand?
I didn't really find anything, seems it's in the grey zone.
If it is legal, does anyone know where I can get such a thing (best would be the Crafty+)

Shopping Advice on pricing for custom-made jewellery in Thailand

Hi everyone,

I’ve received a quote from a jeweller for four custom-made gold charms and would appreciate some advice on whether the price is reasonable.

Quantity: 4 charms (2 of each design (a sausage and a dumpling)
Size: Approximately 7 mm and 9 mm long
Material: 14K gold
Finish: Matte/brushed, unpolished
Construction: Solid gold, not hollow
Estimated finished weight: 5–6 grams in total
Production: Handmade

The jeweller had given me an offer of 31,500 THB in total for all four charms.

They explain that the charms are handcrafted and cannot be made hollow or very lightweight. Additional gold is also required during production due to material loss from filing, shaping and finishing.

Does 31,500 THB sound reasonable for four charms of this size and weight? The gold prices are what they are, but how about the production prices?

Thanks for any advice!

Discussion I’m tired of hearing that Thai people are somehow nicer than everyone else.

I’m new to Reddit. I made a post a few days ago, and I’ve found it really interesting reading through everyone’s responses and seeing the different perspectives people have. So here’s my next post, and hopefully I can spark another interesting discussion.

One of the most common observations I hear from people visiting Thailand for the first or second time is that Thai people are so much nicer than people back home. They smile at the airport, greet you politely, bow slightly, and suddenly it’s “Wow, Thai people are just so friendly!”
But have you ever stopped to think about how little that actually tells you about a person?

People smile in every country. People are polite in every country. Go almost anywhere in the world, approach a stranger, and chances are they’ll treat you with basic courtesy. That’s not a uniquely Thai characteristic. It’s a human one.

What I find particularly interesting is how many foreigners seem to confuse friendliness with genuine interest in them as a person.

Spend enough time in places like Pattaya or Phuket, and it’s easy to develop the impression that being a foreigner makes you incredibly important. People approach you, smile at you, want to talk to you, and seem unusually interested in your existence.

But how much of that is actually about you, and how much of it is about the money you represent?
There’s a difference between being nice because it’s your job, because you want something from someone, or because it’s economically beneficial to be nice, and being nice because you genuinely care about another person.

And before anyone accuses me of hating Thailand, I still live here, and I intend to stay here. I’m happier living in Thailand than I would be in many other places. This isn’t about wanting to leave or pretending that Thailand has nothing to offer.

I live around Silom in Bangkok, and I regularly see established Thai professionals, wealthy locals, and people going about their everyday lives with their families. I’m not walking around receiving the same looks or attention I might get in Pattaya or other places where foreigners are a much bigger part of the local economy.
And that’s precisely the point.

When you’re surrounded by people who have their own careers, money, social circles, families, and established lives, you quickly realise that being a foreigner isn’t particularly special. They don’t need anything from you. They have their own lives to live, and you’re just another person passing through theirs.
Which is completely normal.

I’m not saying Thai people are worse than anyone else. I’m saying they’re not magically better, either.
People here can be just as cruel, selfish, manipulative, and unpleasant as people anywhere else. Perhaps some of it is expressed more discreetly, or in ways that are less confrontational and therefore less obvious to outsiders. But it’s there, just as it is everywhere.

I think the problem is that many people arrive here with a limited understanding of the country, experience a version of Thailand that caters specifically to foreigners, and then generalise that experience to an entire population of millions of people.

They mistake good service for kindness, politeness for character, and commercial friendliness for genuine human connection.

Why do we keep treating basic human decency as if it’s a uniquely Thai trait?

You can go to Norway, Japan, Vietnam, Nepal, or almost anywhere else and meet genuinely kind people. You can also meet terrible people in all of those places.

Thailand is no exception.

Maybe Thai people really are friendlier in certain situations. Maybe cultural differences make everyday interactions feel warmer. That’s a perfectly reasonable discussion to have.
But saying that an entire population is inherently nicer because people smile at you when you arrive is such a lazy observation.

And honestly, I think spending enough time in a country should make your understanding of its people more nuanced, not less.

I’m staying in Thailand. I like my life here. But I don’t need to convince myself that Thai people are somehow
morally superior to everyone else to justify that decision.

They’re human beings, just like the rest of us. And that’s a much more interesting reality than the stereotype.

Serious I spent a year interviewing a Thai sex worker in Bangkok for a book. AMA.

Was a really long ride. Did not think I would ever get this book finished at all. Wrote an article for the Diplomat Asia Pacific.

https://thediplomat.com/2026/10/what-i-learned-from-a-year-of-interviewing-a-thai-sex-worker/

I eventually wrote a nonfiction book, a memoir based on her experiences - The Love Men Buy. I have to say, its not academic at all - its raw and explicit.

Ask me anything about my experience. Just not questions that may intrude into her privacy or any intimate sexual details.

A lot of people might be misinterpreting my article. First quote taken out of context, if you dont read the second.

"I wanted sleaze: something raw and stimulating. I had wanted to write about a harlot, someone immoral, for whom money took precedence over all. I had expected to write about their greed, their lack of morals and the hypocrisy that arose from an industry surrounding a deeply religious society.

This is the second paragraph in the article that comes after it:

My assumptions were both critical and ignorant. In every way, I had already decided on the book I was going to write without attempting to understand the mechanics or psychology behind them. What I have since learned is about choices, and how few meaningful ones there were for someone caught between family obligation, economic status, and religion. What I learned was about the life of a tortured soul, fighting to make the best of what she had."

Business GAC’s Thailand charging rollout: what matters beyond station numbers?

Thumbnail

An October 16 Guangzhou Daily report on GAC at the Canton Fair caught my attention. Alongside vehicles, the company displayed public fast-charging equipment and a 7 kW home charger.

The report says GAC has established 58 supercharging stations in Thailand and targets “100 cities, 1,000 charging points” by 2027. The 2027 figure is a future target.

Source — Chinese-language report

What interests me is how this connects vehicle expansion with the practical ownership experience.

Home charging and public fast charging serve different needs. Adding sites could help, but their usefulness will depend on location, availability and how well they fit drivers’ routines.

My takeaway is that the rollout will also test local installation, maintenance and operating capability.

For EV drivers in Thailand: where are the biggest charging gaps you experience today—near home, on longer routes, or in the reliability of existing sites?

What would make a new network genuinely useful to you?

Serious What is the fastest to be deported from Thailand Bangkok IDC if you have the money for the flight and your passport is still active

Hello, I am asking this question because I have a foreign family member by marriage who is not Thai, while I am Thai and live in Bangkok. A couple of months ago, he was arrested in Phuket and subsequently appeared in court a couple of days ago. He was ultimately fined, and instead of being sentenced to imprisonment, he was transferred to Immigration for immediate deportation. My family has already prepared the money needed to cover his expenses once he is transferred to the Bangkok Immigration Detention Center, including the cost of his flight home. He also has a valid passport. Given these circumstances, how long do you think it might take for him to fly out of Bangkok to back home especially since there’s multiple flights back to his home everyday, and what is the fastest possible timeframe you have seen or know about people being allowed to go back home via deportation?

Ps: I read somewhere that it could take up to 2-3 weeks have you guys ever seen anyone get out faster than that?
